Overview and Job Summary
WRI China Office is looking for an Accounting Specialist. In this role, you will support WRI China Office by assisting in accounting management for our growing portfolio of grants and partnerships. You will also work with the Accounting and Finance team from the global office and other internation offices. It will provide a great opportunity for you to build up a strong and comprehensive financial skill set and expertise, which will contribute to the rapid growth in your career path.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and approve payment and reimbursement requests.
- Implement financial transactions and payment procedures.
- Prepare bookkeeping for all financial transactions per US GAAP and PRC GAAP. Handle monthly and annual fiscal year and calendar year end closing.
- Support programs and other functions for accounting issues
- Various account reconciliation, including AP, amortization, prepayment, accrued expenses, etc.
- Support global organization level and various project level financial audits
- Assist with annual government authorities’ reporting, inspection, and auditing
- Coordinate and support China local organization level external audit.
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax returns
- Assist with clarifying and streamlining various internal process and financial policies
- Support and coordinate with global accounting team for any financial matters.
- Support financial system implementation and financial training.

Qualifications and Requirements
- At least 5 years of full-time experience in accounting work, experience with non-governmental organizations is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting policies and procedures, especially US GAAP and local non-profit organization accounting policy.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Fluent in speaking and written English.
- Strong attention to details and good analytical skills
- At least a Batchelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software like WorkDay is a plus.
- Be adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and can manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines
- Strong process orientation with sensitivity to quality, timelines, and organizational systems.
