About the Program:

WRI’s Energy Program speeds the transition to a low-carbon, inclusive energy future by helping to build clean energy markets and change institutions. The Energy Program collaborates with policymakers, cities, companies, utilities, regulators and development institutions to secure a clean energy future for everyone.

Job Highlight:

In this role, you will help develop a solar investment roadmap to support the International Solar Alliance and leverage $1 trillion into global solar markets in geographies like Africa, Latin America, and Asia. You will also conduct research and engagement activities to shift commercial and industrial demand for energy to clean energy sources, thereby supporting country decarbonization goals in Latin America and Asia. You will be supported by a network of global and in country colleagues from across WRI’s offices to ensure activities are well aligned to drive outcomes on the ground. You will report to the Deputy Director, Global Energy Program and the Global Engagement Lead for Scaling Solar. This position will begin as remote due to Covid-19 but will require relocation to the Washington, DC office. Candidates who prefer a remote/hybrid option may also be considered.

What you will do:

Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement (40%)
• Lead or support WRI outreach activities with global partners – including utilities, industry, government staff, and other NGOs -- to achieve project objectives.
• Track and monitor impacts from WRI’s work to spur global action on clean energy and improve reporting to donors.
• Contribute to research and fundraising proposals.

Research & Knowledge Products (40%)
• Produce research products (e.g., reports, briefs, data products) that help governments, industry, and other partners resolve barriers to clean energy use.
• Conduct desktop research and stakeholder interviews to support research.
• Track progress on clean energy deployment and investment worldwide using energy databases including IEA and BNEF.

Communications & Administrative (20%)
• Create communications for influence targets, particularly timely pieces that distill longer-term research and opportunities for action into digestible materials.
• Engage in public speaking to share insights from the program’s work with important audiences.
• Help develop web content, fact sheets, blog posts, and other products that communicate the impact of our work to important audiences.
• Provide logistical support for important WRI workshops, conferences and other dissemination activities.

What you will need:

• Education: You have a completed Bachelors degree.
• Experience: You have a minimum of 6 years full-time relevant work experience in clean energy policy or finance, climate, environmental, or other relevant fields.
• You have experience carrying out research and analysis tasks, as well as with data collection and management using Microsoft Excel or similar programs.
• You have experience writing briefs and research products, using both desk research and interview techniques.
• You have experience working with multiple team members and project partners, ideally across a variety of different backgrounds and job functions.
• Languages: English. A second language is preferred.
• Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.

Potential Salary:

$59,000-$77,000 Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors. WRI offers a competitive remuneration and benefits package.
