Research and Administrative Analyst, Global Energy Transitions
This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days/month in the office. You can be based in our office in Washington DC. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. To be eligible for this position in US, you must be a resident of DC, Maryland or Virginia at the start of employment.

Job Highlight:
Reporting to Research Associate, you will integrate equity into your work. You will support various projects across the Global Energy Program at the center of the Global Energy Program’s research initiatives and partnerships. This will include researching a broad range of topics related to orchestrating the clean and renewable energy transition, synthesizing and presenting insights, as well as helping set up, monitor progress and implement projects. Besides research and analysis, you will support stakeholder engagement, project management, and strategic communications.
You will work globally and frequently interact with and support initiatives at WRI’s country offices on different continents.
You will be supported by the Global Energy team, which includes senior researchers, communication and engagement experts, project management professionals, senior fellows, and part-time consultants.
What will you do:
Research & knowledge (40%):
- Assist with qualitative and quantitative analysis. Potential areas of analysis include (but are not limited to) sectoral energy consumption patterns, energy production from different sources, clean energy deployment trends, industrial clean heat strategies, and topics related to critical minerals and circularity
- Assist with and/or co-author reports, briefs, and data products. This would include conducting literature reviews, co-developing research methodologies, and ensuring adherence WRI research standards to quality control protocols
- Assist with and/or co-author articles and other communication materials such as podcast series on energy transition topics. Present at internal meetings and provide support with notetaking
- Review knowledge products written by other researchers
Outreach and stakeholder engagement (30% time):
- Collaborate and build relationships with external partners as well as WRI colleagues across programs and country offices
- Support the organization of roundtables, workshops and other convening events with stakeholders in government, corporate sector, and civil society
- Assist with reports, presentations, project updates, and proposals to funders
- Work with engagement and communications staff to support website updates, draft articles and infographics, and review social media content
- Respond to internal and external requests for information
Project Management (30% time):
- Support the coordination of internal and external meetings
- Support coordination with WRI core functions (such as Communications and Operations teams) for project deliverables
- Support daily project management tasks including notetaking, summary drafting, internal document management, and collecting of information from partners.
- Contribute to the development of project work plans
- Track and monitor deliverables under the supervision of a project manager
- Occasionally support with drafting of contracts and subgrant agreements
- Support the team in adhering to WRI policies, procedures, and best practices relating to award management, including budgets and work plan development
What will you need:
- Education: You have a completed a bachelor’s degree in Energy, Environmental Policy, Environmental Studies, Economics, Engineering, the Natural Sciences, Public Policy, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree is accepted
- Experience: You have a minimum of 2 years of full-time relevant experience in related roles and subject matter
- Familiarity with energy topics, such as strengths and weaknesses of different technologies, procurement mechanisms and their state of play in various markets, and/or clean energy finance
- Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to handle multiple priorities across various projects in a deadline-driven professional environment
- Excellent qualitative and/or quantitative research and writing skills
- Excellent computer skills, ranging from Microsoft Office to AI software
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with colleagues of diverse cultural backgrounds and work styles
- Attention to detail, curiosity, and creativity and flexibility to travel
- Flexibility to join virtual meetings across several time zones.
- Languages: You will have written and spoken proficiency in English
- Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization
Potential Salary: US salary range is between 57,000 and 64,000 USD. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
