Position Summary: The Accountant - Cash and Accounts Payable position is responsible for the day to day management of the company's cash, banking, and merchant activities, working closely with other areas both inside and outside the company to reconcile, post and monitor cash positions. This position also performs some cash management duties at the community account level. Additionally, this position will provide accounts payable support as needed, with a key focus on utilities, vendor reconciliations, and vendor inquiries.
Qualifications Required:
• Requires a bachelor's degree or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Should possess knowledge of real estate management and accounting, affordable housing experience preferred.
• Must possess the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
• Ability to question the status quo, strong critical thinking and suggest improvements, especially
related treasury processes and procedures and controls
• Must work well under pressure and within tight timelines and shifting priorities. Strong organizational skills required.
Functions and Responsibilities:
• Lead bank account opening and due diligence processes.
• Liaise with finance and accounting staff on cash positions, cash movements, and cash flow projections
• Initiate wires, ACH and bank transfers, and appropriate deposits
• Identify daily cash activity and record as necessary
• Maintain bank account documentation and signatory updates
• Continuous improvement of reporting tools, database tools and metrics
• Automation of certain cash processes
• Work with utilities provider to ensure processing of invoices, along with other vendor reconciliations
• Special or ad hoc projects as required.
Physical Demands: Position requires work to be performed in an office setting. Extensive use of a computer, keyboard and mouse; requires walking talking, seeing and hearing. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
