What you'll do:

  • Perform light housekeeping for clients in their home, including cleaning living areas, vacuuming, mopping floors, laundry, dishwashing, and more
  • Plan, prepare and serve meals
  • Provide companionship and develop professional relationships with clients
  • Assist with walking and stabilization
  • Communicate with members of the health team regarding the client's homemaking, physical, and emotional needs to assist with the development of the client care plan
  • Complete environmental risk assessments
  • Maintain focus of client independence, health status, safety, and quality of life

What we need from you:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification is required
  • Safe Food Handler and WHIMIS certification is required
  • Experience working with seniors and persons with disabilities preferred
  • Experience working for a professional cleaning services organization preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Experience working with people from different social and economic environments preferred
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check is required. A Vulnerable Sector Search may also be required
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Willingness to travel within the sites service area

Working conditions and physical demands: This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
