The Role

We manage the process of work as it moves through the building and own the delivery and production of that work.

VMLY&R Commerce produces a large volume of communications that involve a wide variety of disciplines, production partners and inter-agency groups.

The delivery of great creative work from VMLY&R Commerce is entwined with the success of our team of Project Managers; therefore it is key that we strive to be the best we can be, with the passion and drive of our Project Managers being the engine room for our success as a department.

As a Project Manager you role is tasked to align all depts throughout the process to deliver on time and on budget.

Responsibilities

  • Working with our Client Services team lead the project team and defining what needs to be done and when.
  • Along with Client Services manage briefings for creatives and project teams.
  • Being the expert on feasibility or knowing who to go to if you are not.
  • Estimating all aspects of a project and creation of SOW as required.
  • Along with Client Services agree and lead a process and way of working that delivers against the SOW.
  • Booking resource and attending weekly resource meetings to ensure that your workload and requirements are covered.
  • Creating and owning creative development and production timelines and schedules.
  • Managing of internal project budgets.
  • Along with Client Services organising creative reviews and clarifying outcomes and actions.
  • Track timeline and milestones.
  • Knowledge and ability to produce assets in relation to one or more specialties/ channels.

As a Project Manager..

  • You pride yourself on delivering the best possible creative solutions, whilst diplomatically balancing the practical constraints we are often challenged with.
  • You hold responsibility for your projects and will be supported along the way by your Dept Head and other Project Managers.
  • You can be client facing if required and will be happy producing all types of work.
  • You are the consistent and proactive link between all our internal Depts, the VMLY&R Network and our external partners.
  • You help manage the creative development process, working closely with CD’s and Client Services
  • You manage the production process.
  • You create the timelines in which great work can be delivered, and can communicate any issues along the way
  • You work with 3rd party partners to enable great work to be delivered and suggest new suppliers if you think there is a need to bring on board.
  • You can review campaign ideas and scope feasibility during the creative development phase. highlighting issue early.
  • You ensure everyone delivers on time and on budget.
  • You will hold financial responsibility for your jobs.
  • You are available for other Project Managers in the department to support them when an occasion arises.
  • You will strive to increase efficiency, through smarter ways of working across the client portfolio wherever possible.

You

To fulfill this role you need to be a talented Project Manager with a breadth of experience across integrated production, client services and creative development.

You will have a commitment to excellence in all areas of the creative and production process and whilst you may be more experienced in some areas than others, you have a channel neutral approach to making stuff happen, and you have a desire to be the best at what you do. Your natural empathy enables you to maneuver through some sticky situations with a calm and considered approach. Communication is key.

You will work closely with your Client Services partners, creative directors and creative teams supporting and leading them in their approach to asset creation.  You will be creatively aware, driving delivery excellence across the agency and the brands you are associated with. You will ensure that the highest standards of process, management, creativity and craft are always upheld.
