Position Summary: 

The Manufacturing Engineer will be primarily responsible for troubleshooting and continuous support of process improvement for the identified areas.  

Responsibilities: 

  1. Understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies.  Ensure that safe and sanitary working conditions are maintained in the facility in accordance with Company standards, as well as, state & federal laws and regulations. Know and understand your OSHA rights.  Conduct safety training topics as required or needed.  Responsible for attending all assigned safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.  As required, promptly investigate accidents and near misses, completing appropriate reports and taking action to eliminate root causes.
  2. Ability to analyze, write, and modify CNC programs to optimize machine efficiency. Identify potential tooling upgrades and changes to maximize productivity.
  3. Provide assistance to maintenance and contractors to limit machine downtime.
  4. Develop & Maintain Production Routers and Work Centers to reflect current processes.
  5. Develops solutions to a variety of complex and sometimes unusual problems that require independent judgment and ingenuity to modify procedure standards related to plant layout, design and construction. 
  6. Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design.  Determines feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering cost, space available, time constraints, accompany planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  7. Examines and approves engineering drawings, design computations, etc. to ensure compliance with sound engineering practices and safe operating standards, codes and regulations.
  8. Conducts preliminary surveys and prepares sketches and/or work drawings for the construction and modification of tooling and fixtures.
  9. Inspects materials, workmanship, as well as mechanical and electrical installations for conformance to plans and specification.
  10. Reviews and approves shop drawings and cost breakdowns submitted by suppliers and contractors of projects.
  11. Discusses plans, specifications, and work schedules with assigned plant personnel or contractors and resolves problems associated with projects & equipment.
  12. Maintains records of progress, quantities, changes, delays and other pertinent factors affecting projects & equipment.
  13. Controls cost and identifies opportunities to reduce cost relating to materials, installation, energy consumption, etc.
  14. Perform other duties as required.  These duties may include assignment in job classification other than the primary assignment.

Qualifications (education, experience, skills, personal attributes): 

  1. Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
  2. Ability to maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
  3. Ability to use computers and available software to maintain records and prepares technical reports.
  4. Communicate effectively using electronic media in written and verbal forms.  Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups.
  5. Ability to work independently, self-motivated, with minimal supervision.  Acute attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work in a team environment.
  7. Motivated to stay abreast of the latest and/or new technologies in the Facilities and Manufacturing fields.
  8. Ability to work alternate schedules to support project requirements, i.e., weekends, different shifts, etc.
  9. BS Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
  10. Experience with CNC machinery and mechanical equipment including tooling, fixtures, and gauge design.
  11. Proficient in use of CAD/CAM software.
  12. Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
