Job Summary:
As a Junior Piping Designer, you will support Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) projects by assisting with 3D modeling, drafting, and collaborating with the VDC and sales teams. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their technical skills in piping design while gaining hands-on experience working with contractors and clients. You will play a key role in producing accurate 3D BIM models and ensuring project success through strong attention to detail and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting & 3D Modeling:
- Assist in creating accurate and constructible 3D BIM models based on engineering drawings.
- Develop piping layouts, isometric drawings, spool sheets, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) using AutoPlant, Revit MEP, or AutoCAD MEP software.
Project Support & Coordination:
- Work closely with the VDC and sales teams to support project quoting and estimating.
- Participate in project review and kickoff meetings with contractors and clients.
- Assist in job control functions such as tracking project progress and documentation.
Quality Assurance & Field Support:
- Perform basic drawing checks and verify Bills of Materials to ensure accuracy.
- Travel to job sites as needed to gather field measurements and support project teams.
- Identify and report any job-related challenges or deficiencies to the project coordinator.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in drafting or engineering (preferred but not required).
- Diploma in Engineering Technology (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
- Basic proficiency in AutoPlant, Revit MEP, or AutoCAD MEP and general computer skills.
- Interest in Power, Petrochem, HVAC, or Municipal Piping industries.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
