Business Development Specialist – Fire Protection (Central US)

The Business Development Specialist will play a critical role in the development and advancement of Victaulic fire protection products and solutions by developing critical long-term relationships with key decision makers and stakeholders such as owners, engineers, architects, general contractors, authorities, and risk consultants. 

Region: Central US with a focus on the clients located in Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana. 

Residence: Ideal candidate would be located preferably within the center of the geography. Such as Indianapolis, IN or Columbus, OH 

Travel: Position will require travel throughout specific region, on an average of 50% of the time. 

Responsibilities

·        Experience developing, managing, and growing new business opportunities by cultivating relationships with key stakeholder on a regional, national, and global scale. 

·        Raise awareness of Victaulic’s full range of solutions to both new and existing customers and clients. This will involve conducting regular customer and site visits, as well as developing small discussion groups with owners, developers, engineers, and risk consultants. 

·        Execute high level networking and social engineering at the client’s executive level to identify a strategic vision of market trends, new product opportunities, and new services for future growth. 

·        Collaborating with regional sales managers and front-line sales representatives on all aspects of the business to convert contractors, engineers, and owners to Victaulic. 

·        Track high-level projects and opportunities, while also identifying and developing regional targets. 

·        Maintain a sound knowledge of our fire protection products and solutions, as well as identify opportunities for new products based on the needs of your clients or industry. 

·        Foster close contact with key stakeholders to create, convert and sustain engineering specifications aligned with Victaulic products and solutions. 

·        Proficiency in development and delivery of technical presentations to various industry groups and societies showcasing Victaulic’s capabilities, solutions, value propositions while providing value to the client. 

·        Responsive both proactively and reactively to clients’ needs 

 

Qualifications

·        Extensive relevant experience within the construction and engineering fields. Experience within the fire protection industry is a plus but not a requirement. 

·        Proven success in business development, sales, account management, and the ability to drive sales at the engineering, developer, and owner level. 

·        Strong engineering skills in writing and development of design specifications 

·        Self-starter that enjoys working in an autonomous role while being a member of a team of highly skilled colleagues. 

·        Professional demeanor, appearance, with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills 

·        Flexibility to travel overnight in order to adequately cover region 

·        Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce  

Education | Experience

·        Bachelor’s degree in architectural/mechanical engineering or construction management is strongly preferred. 

·        NICET certification in Automatic Sprinklers and water-based fire protection industry experience is preferred but not required. 

·        Past Business Development and/or Sales experience (5 years) with a proven record of success.
