Location:        Victaulic Corporate Headquarters - Easton, PA
 
Reports To:    Directly to Director, Global Advanced Mfg. & Quality - Operations
                        & Functionally to VP Global Quality

Scope: The Director of Global Quality-Operations has overall leadership responsibility for Victaulic’s Operations and facilities Quality organization, and responsibility for the entire process control and quality levels of goods produced in Victaulic’s global manufacturing and operations facilities. The Director and respective global production facility QA teams are responsible for developing, maintaining, and continually improving an efficient and effective QMS along with quality control measures to ensure the prevention and elimination of errors, defects and scrap within our production environments.  In addition to ensuring the quality and reliability of Victaulic products, the Director will coordinate cross-functionally to facilitate defect-free launches of new products into the respective production environments.
The goal of this position is to assure our customers receive a product which consistently meets or exceeds their expectations of quality, and to reinforce their belief that Victaulic products provide the highest confidence and the best value in our industry.
                                               
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Victaulic’s global Quality Management System and Global compliance of the company’s QMS to maintain ISO 9001-2015 certification at all relevant global facilities.
  • In partnership with the global Supply Chain and Operations organizations, support and collaborate with leadership to continuously improve both supplier quality and manufacturing quality development and qualification processes.
  • Support the New Product Development process and Engineering Technology organization with early engagement influence on product designs, manufacturability, testing and inspection methodologies, process development and production equipment requirements. Lead with comprehensive planning, risk assessment, and preventive measures to minimize the likelihood of quality issues, defects, or safety concerns during the initial production phase including:
 
  • Heavy participation in PFMEAs to positively influence designs for assembly, manufacture, automation, mistake-proofing, inspection and labor variability.
  • Process Capability studies and CpK analysis to assess production readiness for new product development launches.
  • Incorporation of control plans as an integral part of defining product and process characteristics with demonstrated compliance to engineering standards.
  • Develop rigorous QA metrics and targets relevant to the production environments and routinely report to leadership along with continuous improvement opportunities.  Standardize the QA metrics globally to the critical few metrics that can be rolled up to look at the health of our processes on a corporate level. Engage plant managers, plant quality leaders, manufacturing engineering and purchasing managers in a periodic review of their Quality performance, focusing on localized ownership of the metrics and the related continuous improvement process.
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with Global Supplier Quality and Corporate Quality organizations as a seamless, synergistic team with aligned goals, priorities and initiatives.   Lead global quality community in regularly scheduled Quality Summits, to address key objectives, best practices and initiatives in support of our production environments, supply base and overall business goals.
  • Staffing, talent management, recruiting, succession planning and employee training & development to continuously improve the expertise and competency of local production and branch/distribution center operations teams.  Build local expert level competencies in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
 
  • Standardize and implement best practices across the global production facilities,and implement Victaulic’s QMS system and continuous improvement methodologies as part of acquisition integrations as needed.
  • Introduction of new technologies in quality assurance and quality control processes such as automation, vision systems, mistake-proofing, statistical process control, etc.
  • Participation in various external organizations and committees to further quality assurance and company objectives.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor degree in an Engineering or related science.  Advanced degree in an area of science, engineering or management is desirable.
  • A minimum of 15 years direct experience in Quality Assurance and ISO 9000, Automotive Tier one, or similar production environments.  Manufacturing management and continuous improvement experience highly desired, Senior management preferred.  Demonstrated record of success developing, implementing and continuously improving quality management systems in a Global manufacturing organization.
 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with a variety of lean and problem-solving tools and methodologies including Value Stream mapping, Standard Work, Pull Systems & Kanban, 5S/Visual Management, 5W’s, Affinity Mapping, DMAIC and fishbone diagrams.
  • Familiarity with statistical techniques with demonstrated use in process improvement. Six sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certifications a plus.
  • Trained in problem solving, team facilitation, and root cause analysis mandatory.  Demonstrated teamwork and communications skills necessary.
 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills promoting teamwork, collaboration and a positive work environment. Ability to work all levels from the production floor to the executive office.
 
  • Minimum of 10 years of Management / Supervisor experience.
 
REPORTS:
 
Matrix - all Global Operations Quality Assurance personnel report directly to the local facility Plant Managers, and dotted line functionally to this Director position.
