Job Summary:

This position is located at our Kansas City area location and is responsible for the planning, scheduling, purchasing and managing of supply points and/or product lines and their respective suppliers while maintaining a high level of customer service.
 

Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews open customer orders/shop orders, shop and/or equipment capacity and historical data to help prepare a daily production plan while working closely with Shop Floor supervisors to ensure all customer commitment dates are being met.
  2. Efficiently planning and managing of the assigned supply points and/or product lines and their respective suppliers to deliver finished products to the customer and maintaining a high level of customer service.
  3. Releases purchase orders for production material, floor stock items and all purchases to support the manufacturing needs for assigned product line.
  4. Uses available inventory replenishment methods and practices to insure on hand minimums are kept, to minimize dead or slow moving and scrap inventory and maximum availability of inventory for active items.
  5. Knows how to resolve problems and discrepancies with quality, delivery dates, quantity, and invoicing of purchased commodities.
  6. Develops and manages the various databases to ensure systems work smoothly.

  7. Works well in a team environment including warehouse, manufacturing, customer service, maintenance, and shipping teams so customer requirement goals are met.
  8. Able to adapt quickly and knows several problem-solving techniques.
  9. Is proficient in expediting suppliers and logistics. Escalates when necessary.
  10. Can manage tactical duties with Suppliers and report out on Supplier Performance.
  11. Appraise vendors’ performance based on metrics such as on time delivery, accuracy and quality of material and owns the tactical day to day supplier relationship.
  12. Participate in and use Quality Improvement Process in resolving problems in the work environment.

Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Personal Attributes)

  1. Minimum Associates Degree (2yr)
  2. AS400/ Profound preferred but not required
  3. Minimum internship or co-op experience in Purchasing, Material Control or Manufacturing planning
  4. Strong analytical problem-solving ability
  5. Customer Service driven
  6. Good oral and written communications skills
  7. Experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite
  8. Must be goal and detail oriented, reliable, self-motivated, and able to multi-task effectively
  9. Good organizational and analytical problem-solving skills required.
