Responsibilities: 

  • Understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies.  Ensure that safe and sanitary working conditions are maintained in the facility in accordance with Company standards, as well as, state & federal laws and regulations. Know and understand your OSHA rights.  Conduct safety training topics as required or needed.  Responsible for attending all assigned safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.  As required, promptly investigate accidents and near misses, completing appropriate reports and taking action to eliminate root causes.
  • Supervise the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software for facility computers and Programmable Logic Controllers. 
  • Supervise the modification of software and hardware used in facility PLC systems.
  • Assist as needed or requested by hourly maintenance employees in the troubleshooting of facility electrical systems. 
  • Develop and maintain security of facility computer and PLC systems and networks.
  • Provide operating and maintenance training on computer and PLC systems to facility personnel.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive backup systems for all computer and PLC software systems.  Supervise the maintenance of back up systems for PLC hardware.
  • Maintain full and complete current documentation on all facility computer and PLC hardware and software systems.
  • Work closely with Foundry Operations, Foundry Maintenance, Facilities Engineering, outside vendors, Victaulic Managers, and Victaulic Management Information Systems personnel to insure the compatibility and functionality of facility computer and PLC systems and to coordinate systems installations or modifications.
  • Coordinates with outside contractors and facility maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion of assigned projects within defined budget and schedule.
  • Prepares and present operational summary and technical reports as required.
  • Actively participates in the Quality Improvement Process and Victaulic Product Delivery System.

    Qualifications (education, experience, skills, personal attributes):

  • Technical degree or advanced technical training in computer programming, and/or electronics technology.
  • Three years experience in programming of computers and PLCs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Three years experience in maintaining PLC and computer communications networks (LANS) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of writing and troubleshooting software in three of the following: Basic, Pascal, “C”, Fortran, Cobol, Ladder Logic, and/or Machine Language.
  • Capable of reading and writing Ladder Logic programs and producing neat, concise drawings, diagrams, and text as may be required to fully document proposed or existing systems.
  • Capable of working with a minimum of supervision.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, weekends, or other shifts if required.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be capable of handling exerting and/or stressful situations.
  • Must be able to conduct/participate in meetings.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight as needed.
