Position:Business Intelligence (BI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Analyst

Reports To:Supply Chain Manager 

  

Scope: 

Victaulic seeks a thoughtful and energetic individual in the fields of business and artificial intelligence to analyze large data sets and create solutions that support predictive modeling, complex problem solving, and KPIsVictaulic is heavily invested in BI solutions that format and present structured data and metrics to the business.  We also recognize the significant opportunities that AI and ML offer and we’re excited to partner with an individual who is eager to grow with usResponsibilities include identifying and executing process improvements that may require enhancements to existing BI models and/or collecting business and functional requirements for new models that deliver process improvements.  This analyst will also design and construct advanced machine learning models that deliver efficiency to various processesThis individual will focus on all aspects of the process – data collection, cleansing, processing, training of models, and deployment to the user base.  You will collaborate across the business, promoting alignment between departments leading the effort to grow BI, AI, and ML solutions for the company with the assistance and support of the Supply Chain Manager.  The BI & AI Analyst will research and promote industry best practices, lead meetings, and deliver solutions across the business that improve operational efficiency and assist in complex problem solving and decision making.  Opportunities exist in, but are not limited to, Buying and Planning, Logistics, Data and Attribute Management, Quality Assurance, and Order Management. 

  

  

Responsibilities: 

  1. Collaborate on develop of new and support/enhance existing BI models that positively impact all facets of our supply chain organization and related business departments.  Focus on solutions that delivery process improvements, value, efficiency gains, and deeper insights into business trends.
  2. Manage and lead process improvement opportunities for Supply Chain.  Lead requirements gathering activities, develop business and functional requirements, test, coordinate training and launch of process and tools.
  3. Develop and deploy ML algorithms and tools that can be used to solve a given problem and enhance operational effectiveness.  If multiple solutions exist, analyze which has the highest probability of success.
  4. Understand the problem/opportunity and associated data, identify any bias in the data and explain how that bias may affect the model and its outcome.
  5. Validate data quality and oversee any required cleansing.
  6. Research and identify external datasets that may compliment or validate data training.
  7. Explain and document data validation strategies employed.
  8. Train model(s) to cleansed data, analyze errors associated with the model(s) and develop mitigation strategies, and deploy models to production.
  9. Liaise with external vendors regarding functional design requirements, testing, evaluation, and deployment of sourced models.
  10. Research, create, develop, and implement new techniques of data mining, analysis, and presentation.
  11. Keep up to date with developments in the BI, AI and ML industries.

  

  

Qualifications: 

  1. Minimum B.S./B.A STEM degree, 2+ years relevant work experience.
  2. Proficiency with Python, Java, R and other prominent libraries for machine learning.  Experience with Qlik a plus.
  3. Experience in analysis and process improvement in Manufacturing and Operations environments desired.
  4. Possess an innovative mind with desire and enthusiasm to understand complex business models and apply expert analytical and problem-solving skills.  Desire to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  5. Must be responsible, reliable, and self-motivated.  Drive to improve processes and performance is essential.  Continually seeks knowledge and challenges.
  6. Demonstrated success leading process improvement, metric development, and problem solving.
  7. Proficient understanding of probability, statistics, and algorithms with the ability to explain in lay terminology.
  8. Expertise in visualizing and manipulating large data sets.
  9. Strong command of data structures, modeling, and architecture.
  10. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. Can pivot focus and energy as needed.  Not afraid of failure.
  11. Good oral and written communication skills required with attention to detail.
  12. Readiness to work with a global team.
  13. Occasional travel.
