SUMMARY: Monitors, maintains, and improves production equipment and processes under the direction of the Engineering/Maintenance Supervisor and Operations staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES: To include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ensure that safe and sanitary working conditions are maintained in the facility in accordance with Company standards, as well as state & federal laws and regulations. Know and understand your OSHA rights. Conduct safety training topics as required or needed. Responsible for attending all assigned safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions. As required, promptly investigate accidents and near misses, completing appropriate reports and taking action to eliminate root causes.
- Support daily production schedules through the timely troubleshooting and repair of faulty equipment, both electrical and mechanical in nature.
- Monitor machine and process efficiency and ensure production goals are consistently met.
- Collect and analyze data to ensure machine performance is maintained and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work with Engineering team to identify, support, and lead projects focused on improving the safety, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment, automation, and processes.
- Maintain and document equipment repair history for trend analysis.
- Conduct root cause analysis of machine faults and maintenance repairs with recommendations for process or machinery improvements.
- Performs cost analyses and writes justifications for proposed capital projects.
- Examines and approves engineering drawings, design computations, etc. to ensure compliance with sound engineering practices and safe operating standards, codes and regulations.
- Conducts preliminary surveys and prepares sketches and/or work drawings for the fabrication or modification of tooling, fixtures, etc.
- Inspects materials, workmanship, as well as mechanical and electrical installations for conformance to plans and specification.
- Develop and maintain effective lines of communication between manufacturing personnel, supervisory personnel, engineering team, management, and outside contacts as required.
- Assist in maintaining spare part inventories, to include cataloguing of components and suggesting items to be on stock as equipment history is obtained.
- Support the development, implementation, and enhancement of an effective preventative maintenance (PM) program to ensure consistent equipment performance.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- BS Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology field; or equivalent work experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in the following areas a plus:
- Automated equipment
- Allen Bradley controls/PLCs
- Keyence vision inspection software
- CAD/CAM
- FANUC Robots
- Metal finishing
- Electrocoating
- Ovens
- RO water systems
- Wastewater treatment systems
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Technical Knowledge
- Experience in the maintenance of automated assembly equipment and its operation to include electro/mechanical troubleshooting of pneumatics and industrial controls and the ability to facilitate necessary repairs once issues are properly identified.
- Basic understanding of mechanical processing equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, filtration, and ovens.
- Ability to use computers and available software to maintain records and prepares technical reports.
- Ability to communicate equipment issues to operations and manufacturing engineering staff in an accurate and technical manner.
- Motivated to stay abreast of the latest and/or new technologies in the Facilities and Manufacturing fields.
- Understanding of PM and TPM strategies and how they relate to the management of industrial automation.

- Physical Demands
- The employee will regularly be required to lift up to 40 lbs.
- The employee will occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms and stand for extended periods of time.
- The employee will occasionally be required to work from heights through safe use of fall protection measures in accordance with OSHA standards.
- The employee will occasionally be required to climb ladders and steps to access elevated work platforms on the system.
- Ability to work alternate schedules to support project requirements, i.e., weekends, different shifts, etc.
- The employee will work in shop which is not temperature controlled.
