Job Summary:
Join our dynamic team in Kansas City as a Production Planner/Buyer. In this role, you will be at the heart of our supply chain operations, responsible for planning, scheduling, purchasing, and managing supply points and product lines. Your efforts will ensure that we maintain our high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Planning: Review open customer orders, shop orders, equipment capacity, and historical data to prepare daily production plans. Collaborate closely with Shop Floor supervisors to meet all customer commitment dates.
  • Supply Chain Management: Efficiently manage assigned supply points and product lines, ensuring timely delivery of finished products while maintaining exceptional customer service.
  • Purchasing: Release purchase orders for production materials, floor stock items, and other necessary purchases to support manufacturing needs.
  • Inventory Management: Utilize inventory replenishment methods to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize dead or slow-moving inventory, and maximize availability of active items.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve issues related to quality, delivery dates, quantity, and invoicing of purchased commodities.
  • Database Management: Develop and manage databases to ensure smooth system operations, including Profound, MRP, BPCS/CIC/BPA, Mendix, and Qliksense.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with warehouse, manufacturing, customer service, maintenance, and shipping teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Adaptability: Quickly adapt to changing circumstances and employ various problem-solving techniques.
  • Supplier Management: Expedite suppliers and logistics, escalate issues when necessary, and manage day-to-day supplier relationships. Appraise vendor performance based on metrics such as on-time delivery, accuracy, and quality of materials.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in and utilize the Quality Improvement Process to resolve workplace issues.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Minimum Associates Degree (2 years)
  • Experience: Internship or co-op experience in Purchasing, Material Control, or Manufacturing Planning preferred
  • Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving ability, customer service orientation, excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite
  • Attributes: Goal and detail-oriented, reliable, self-motivated, able to multi-task effectively, strong organizational skills
