Assistant Designer - Apparel

Description

Supports the Designer & Director and assists in implementing and creating technical packages as well as color line sheets. 

This role is hybrid and requires being in the office 3 days a week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Assists design team in creating the product collections at the beginning of each season. 
  • Prepares development creative packages under direction of the senior designer and/or designer. 
  • Assists in managing multiple seasons at different stages of development, while understanding the development calendar and ensuring teams are adhering to the T&A. 
  • Prepares for seasonal product review meetings. 
  • Shops monthly to compile market research to gain understanding of brand and stays abreast of trends both directional and at a retail level, including, but not limited to brick & mortar and online research. 
  • Communicates with cross functional partners daily. 
  • Partners with Designer in reviewing and approving design, lab dips, trims, and fabrics details, etc. 
  • May Prepare for seasonal product review meetings. 
  • May attend development fit sessions. 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Minimum of 1 year of design experience including technical knowledge.
  • High School Diploma required, Associate or Bachelor Degree in design or equivalent experience preferred. 
  • Strong computer skills including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Technical knowledge of fabric construction finishes and techniques. 
  • Strong knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color, sewing techniques, graphics, and trim. 
  • Solid design and conceptual skills. 
  • Timely sense of trends and market direction encompassing color, fabric, and silhouette. 
  • Flexibility to deadline demands and seasonal schedules. 
  • Illustrates a dedication to meeting requirements of internal and external customers, responding to all customer requests promptly and thoroughly.
  • Strong communication skills including ability to work independently and in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback and is a solid verbal and written communicator.  Meet deadlines, prioritize appropriately, cope well with change, and maintain composure under pressure.  
  • Must be organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Hourly Rate: $21.51-$26.31/hr.
