Description

The Designer works closely with the Design Director to develop and execute assigned categories with the seasonal trend concept and merchandise strategy from inception to completion. The Designer will manage the design execution process to ensure all deadlines are met. 

What You'll Do:

  • Research global market to identify new trends, fabric, trim, fit, and hardware pieces and other raw materials.
  • Shop markets for trends, inspiration and interpretation for the target market.
  • Develop strong working relationships with cross-functional team members (Merchants, Technical Design, Production, and Graphics) through communication and problem-solving.
  • Design and create illustrator sketches for Tech packs including front and back sketch, construction details, material, trims, hardware spec.
  • Maintain design records and ensure line sheets are up to date.
  • Communicate with overseas and local vendors and merchants.
  • Review and approve design, lab dips, trims, and fabrics details, etc.
  • Participate in the conceptual development of product lines to create and deliver effective, cohesive product presentations to sell concepts and convince others to adopt a course of action.
  • Provide recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, and new concepts.
  • Produce design sketches and make seasonal presentations of product designs.
  • Create style board for area of responsibility, showing silhouette and color, fabric, print and pattern options.
  • Understand and incorporate trend intelligence into product design efforts.
  • Supervise, train and develop the assigned Assistant Designer(s).
  • Build and maintain collaborative and effective relationships.  
  • Flexibility to deadline demands, seasonal schedules, and possible travel (domestic & international).  
  • Articulate design intent in a fit room environment with cross functional team members. 

What You'll Need:

  • Must have hard wovens experience (Jackets/Outerwear)
  • High school diploma required. Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree is preferred.
  • Five (5) + years of design experience including technical knowledge.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, & Illustrator, Microsoft Excel a plus and Outlook. 
  • Plus size design experience preferred.
  • Hand sketching experience preferred.
  • Visionary on styling, details, and understanding Women’s apparel market.
  • Extensive knowledge of current category fabrics and garment construction, as well as innovation in printing techniques and finishes.
  • Extensive design and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to set a creative tone and to inspire new ideas or concepts.
  • Technical knowledge of fabric construction finishes and techniques.
  • Articulate design intent in a fit room environment with cross functional team members. 
  • Strong communication skills including ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback and is a solid verbal and written communicator.  
  • Meet deadlines, prioritize appropriately, cope well with change, and maintain composure under pressure.  
  • Must be organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment  
  • Effective with overseas e-mail communication. 
  • Timely sense of trends and market direction encompassing color, fabric, and silhouette.  
  • Demonstrates a passion for the customer brand, inspires individuals and relies on managerial skills to plan and accomplish goals.  
  • Possesses strong organizational time management skills.

Salary range:  $$90,200-$115,000
