The Assistant Photo Art Director is responsible for managing the online photography within brand and industry standards. Responsible for art directing the web product photoshoots from hard to soft goods as well as on-figure to ensure the features and benefits of each item are being highlighted while staying true to the Torrid brand.  

What You'll Do:  
  • Plan, supervise and execute on-set digital on-figure e-commerce photoshoots 
  • Partner with Styling Manager on seasonal campaign projection to ensure the needs of the business are being met 
  • Edit, select, and provide retouching notes to Post-Production Team to ensure product shots are completed and ready in a timely manner and by NDC dates 
  • Work with Creative Director, Styling Manager and Production team to select models, stylists, hair & make-up artists 
  • Ability to multi-task simultaneously overseeing several photoshoots at once 
  • Work with Production to ensure the budget is met by meeting daily shot count 
  • Develop and maintain brand style guides for freelance artists including photography, hair, and make-up 
  • Foster an environment of multidisciplinary collaboration and creative problem-solving 
  • Proactively manage time, resources, and productivity 
  • Stays current with market trends to understand the competitive e-commerce landscape that will maximize the impact and effectiveness of creative voice 
  • Attend department, status, direction, presentation, and feedback meetings to offer creative input and ensure that all assigned work is communicated and informed back to partners 
  • Perform other job duties as needed 
 
 
Day to Day Schedule:
  • Art direct on-figure ecommerce photoshoots
  • Art direct elevated PDP shoots and provide selects for Creative Content Producer
  • Create moodboards for set and lighting changes for capsule collections
  • Make onsite selects using CaptureOne
  • Provide retouching notes for each session
  • Create weekly hair and makeup moodboards for upcoming shoots
  • Pair hair/makeup artists with appropriate model
  • Attend model castings and send casting contact sheets to creative team
  • Provide additional image selects upon request
   
What You'll Need: 
  • 2 or 4-year degree in fashion design, photography. marketing, merchandising or related field or equivalent experience 
  • A website or portfolio of relevant photo art direction examples
  • 3+ years of prior soft goods styling experience preferred 
  • Extensive knowledge of apparel on-body and flat styling techniques across the retail industry and in various fashion categories, with specific attention fit for both intimates and the plus-size body 
  • Working knowledge of Capture One, Photoshop, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook 
  • Must have a keen eye for detail and visual composition 
  • Proven experience with on-set standards, demands, and need for attention to detail. Ability to creatively problem-solve in a high-volume workflow studio 
  • Experience with merchandise coordination and demonstrates set management skills. Self-driven 
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback, and is a solid verbal and written communicator 
  • Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately, copes well with change, and maintains composure under pressure 
  • Is accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively, and looks for ways to resolve problems and issues
