Description

The Technical Designer will oversee the technical product development process and ensure consistency of fit, construction and quality in the assigned product categories, Responsible for the development of apparel specifications, attending weekly fittings, attending weekly cross functional meetings, and issuing fit comments with direct daily contact to vendors.



What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for fit, construction, quality, and consistency of assigned product category from development to production, including:
  • Work closely with Product Development to track and maintain approval deadlines.
  • Support and fill in for Lead Technical Designer.
  • Knowledge and ability to lead fittings and make decisions independently.
  • Attend meetings with Merchants, Product Development, and design weekly to review work in progress, best and worst sellers and discuss updates and changes for the week within each category.
  • Mentor and assist the assistant and associate technical designers.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

What You'll Need: 

  • High School required a four (4)-year college degree in fashion merchandising/design preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in technical design, pattern making, or quality assurance, or a combination of education with equivalent work experience.
  • Previous technical design experience is desirable.
  • Previous retail or garment manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Adobe Illustrator, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fit, balance, pattern grading, garment construction/production, fabrics, fabric performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Illustrates a dedication to meeting requirements of internal and external customers, responding to all customer requests promptly and thoroughly.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with all levels of management.
  • Provide constructive, honest, and direct feedback.

Salary rate: $70,000 to $93,000
