Description
Under general supervision, the Radiology Tech Aide assists technologists during procedures and performs patient preparation and clerical functions. This position also assists by transporting patients to and from radiology department. |

- Provides healthcare services in own job category to all age groups.
- Demonstrates competence in interpersonal relationships to all age groups.
- Assists outpatients from reception area to the department. Ascertains needs and the appropriate gowns to change into for exam. Ensures patient comfort and confidentiality at all times.
- Assists in the preparation of the patient, the procedure room, trays and paperwork needed for exams.
- Demonstrates proper use of wheelchair and gurney techniques, oxygen and IV equipment. Demonstrates knowledge and practice of safe patient handling devices. Cleans equipment after every use and stores in correct location.
- Transports and moves patients using appropriate body mechanics and safety precautuions.. Meets safety needs of patients, uses equipment safely and properly ( O2, Hoyer Lift, electric beds).
- Uses the appropriate hand off communication techniques (SBAR) when appropriate.
- Utilizes Radiology Information System (RIS), Hospital Information System (HIS), PACS and Scheduling System.
- Demonstrates confidentiality using own password and all patient care systems.
- Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel in other area of the hospital while maintaining good phone etiquette
- Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned.
- Keeps assigned work areas clean and office/medical supplies stocked. Reorders through appropriate personnel when supplies are low.

Department Specific Competencies |
- Assists in cleaning and preparing procedure rooms: Cleans and wraps reusable equipment and rinses Cath Lab trays.
- Restocks rooms and orders supplies, catheters, contrast, linen, forms and any other materials required.
- Confirms outpatient orders in powerchart for day of procedure.
- Sends images to PACS for Radiologist to read.
