Description
Under general supervision, manages payroll operations to ensure timely and accurate compensation for employees, maintains payroll systems and records, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads payroll staff performance and development. Oversees payroll processing, reporting, and internal controls while supporting employee and management inquiries. |

- Manages daily payroll activities, ensuring timely and accurate calculation and processing of wages, benefits, and deductions.
- Reviews payroll reports for accuracy, including appropriate account distribution.
- Maintains accurate payroll records and documentation; ensures proper recordkeeping and reconciliation.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Prepares W-2s, quarterly and year-end reports; responds to audit and agency information requests.
- Reconciles and balances quarterly payroll reports; supports Finance with payroll-related audit activities
- Prepares documentation and data for internal and external audits.
- Collaborates with IT to maintain and test payroll and timekeeping systems, including system updates and enhancements.
- Updates and maintains the payroll procedures manual and documentation for consistency and accuracy.
- Addresses payroll-related questions and concerns from employees and leaders, including dispute resolution and policy guidance.
- Serves as a key point of contact for communication and coordination across departments and external agencies regarding payroll related matters.
- Provides payroll-related reports and data to support Finance, HR, and leadership decision-making.
- Oversees the selection, training, and daily assignments of payroll staff; supports staff development and ensures a high level of performance and service delivery.

- Audits and process pay for standby, call back, overtime, double time, 12-hour shifts and in-house registry.
- Calculates retroactive pay adjustments.
- Inputs supplemental sick hours for employees receiving state disability or workers' compensation benefits.
- Responds to and resolves employee or management questions or disputes regarding time and pay.
- Prepares and issues special or termination checks in accordance with established procedures.
- Reviews completed payroll runs and reconciles to batch control information.
- Distributes paychecks to departments or employees in alignment with internal protocols.
- Conducts special audits for SDI, workers' compensation, unemployment claims or other payroll-related matters as needed.
