Description

The Unit Lead Nurse is responsible for assisting with clinical management and assisting with the administrative coordination of the nursing unit. The position is a combination of clinical (direct care) and assisting with administrative unit responsibilities to ensure effective delivery of evidenced based clinical patient care. Assists with ensuring compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures.

Department Specific Competencies

  • Meets with patient and family regarding feedback and follows up on their issues; Implements planned service recovery strategies, if indicated, appropriately documenting the incident and informing appropriate departments

  • Supports the annual budget for the individual unit by meeting established productivity standards through appropriate flexing when needed, maintaining staffing matrix guidelines and unit specific ratios.

  • Assists in the promotion of professional growth and development by attending all mandatory courses, classes, inservices, functions as a clinical expert and resource while on the unit.

  • Assists with ensuring clinical quality of care and the integration of the quality caring model in clinical services on the unit.

  • Works effectively with other units, departments and physicians to support the organizational goals as evidenced by: State and Federal regulatory surveys; Accreditation and certification findings related to specific area of responsibility.
