(Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria 
 
 
As the (Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria, you will be reporting directly to the Cyber Manager in charge of DACH, CEE & Middle East regions. You will also be working very closely with and will benefit from the mentorship of our Cyber Senior Underwriter – DACH, CEE & Middle East and will be part of TMHCC International Cyber team. Based in our Barcelona office, you will support the management of our Cyber portfolio in your territories, assisting the Cyber Senior Underwriter in strategic and technical matters as they relate to executing and monitoring underwriting strategies for Cyber risks insurance. 
 
The job requires a keen interest in Cyber matters (Threat, Vulnerabilities and Consequences), Cyber insurance, European markets. 
 
Responsibilities: 
 
The main responsibility of the (Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria is to support the stand-alone Cyber book of business written in those countries.  
 
The responsibilities are further detailed below: 
 
  • Portfolio Management
The (Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria: 
  • will implement in conjunction with the Cyber Team local Cyber risks strategies;
  • will analyse technical, legal and commercial aspects regarding the development of our Cyber book in those territories;
  • will play a role in providing continued training and information sharing on Cyber insurance;
  • will make sure the UW philosophy for Cyber insurance is adopted;
  • as a member of the underwriting team, the (Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria will actively participate in the development of the book of business by using her/his brokers’ relationships;
  • will build productive relationships with assigned field offices and business partners.
 
  • Underwriting Authority
The (Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria will act as a referral authority for certain risk segments. He/she will be involved in underwriting decisions depending on the class of business/territory/limit, of liability/risk, and of exposure/claims experience (risk segments). 
 
 
 
 
  • Portfolio Management
The (Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria will assist the Cyber Senior Underwriter – DACH, CEE & Middle East in managing the overall Cyber portfolio and in providing management information to the Management Team for this line of business, as specified in more detail below: 
  • perform an annual regional book analysis;
  • enhance underwriting and risk management philosophies, underwriting tools and underwriting procedures according to the needs of the company.
 
  • Product/Project Management
The (Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria will be involved in specific research or product development projects that can contribute to the development and/or enhancement of new and/or existing products and market entries. 
 
 
  • Relationship Management
As part of relationship management of the company the (Junior) Cyber Underwriter – Germany & Austria will: 
  • maintain and develop relationships with key brokers;
  • encourage underwriting discussion and stimulate communication between our different teams;
  • provide leadership to teams when in charge of a specific project;
  • develop a sound understanding of all products, services and solutions offered within TMHCC´s Financial Lines division;
  • promote the company by participating in specialized forums and conferences.
 
 
Requirements: 
 
  • Experience: Up to 5 years of insurance experience, preferably with an emphasis in underwriting along with a minimum of 1-year specific Cyber experience depending on the role;
  • Technical Competencies: Cyber insurance knowledge with a fast ability to learn, understand and explain technological processes surrounding internet security and data protection.
  • The ability to embrace an idea meritocracy and to think clearly and quantitatively at a high level is critical to this role.
  • Fluent in English and German. Any other language would be an asset.
  • (MSc or MBA) Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law other relevant
  • Superior ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines
  • Stress resistant.
  • Well-spoken with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Willingness to travel.
