The Casualty Group, one of the many areas of specialty insurance we offer, is in search of a Vice President, Information Technology to lead the Casualty IT department. Casualty portals are the lifeblood, creating real time connection to many of TMHCC’s casualty service offerings.  
 
The Role:
This position is responsible for defining and delivering IT strategy across the Casualty product lines and will be responsible for IT operations, technology and digital innovation. This position reports to the President of the Casualty Group. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute on IT projects of all sizes and scope – nothing is too small or insignificant.
  • Heavy hands-on working experience with all aspects of both Waterfall and Agile software development processes.
  • Proactively track emerging technologies and digital trends that are relevant to business goals and needs.
  • Contribute and collaborate with senior leadership team towards maintaining the current IT vision, strategy, and roadmap. Lead the IT team and its business customers in effective execution of its vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Collaborating with the business stakeholders, lead consistent delivery of planned technical architecture, and ensuring investments and solutions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with business groups and their leaders across the enterprise.
  • Hire, develop, evaluate, reward, and retain a highly qualified team of IT professionals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, transparency and accountability in IT.
  • Ensure that the organization has strong systems analysis and project management skills, and the ability to execute business-critical projects.
  • Develop and maintain a plan that provides for succession and continuity in the most critical IT management positions.
  • Collaborate with Tokio Marine HCC (TMHCC) corporate IT on the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of the computing infrastructure that supports the company's operations and business applications.
  • Establish metrics for managing IT effectiveness and for measuring the impact of IT on the business.
  • Establish KPIs but also identify and track leading indicators to ensure KPIs will be met.
  • Maintain oversight of all IT projects, ensuring that commitments are properly planned, staffed, monitored and reported.
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, processes, portfolio management, development standards and methodologies.
  • Review, recommend, and oversee vendors and managed service agreements for IT services.
  • Ensure Division-level compliance with all external and internal (i.e., TMHCC Corporate) policies, laws, and controls including, but not limited to, Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 (SOX) compliance, security and ERM policies, records management and retention policies, etc.
  • Liaise as needed with TMHCC Corporate IT to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and standards, and adequacy of shared corporate services.
Minimum Knowledge, Qualifications and Education Requirements:    
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field is required. 
  • Insurance industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive IT experience.
  • 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Proven experience executing a strategic vision for IT that supports business objectives.
  • Success in matrixed organizations working collaboratively with diverse leaders, an ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization and build consensus around key initiatives and projects.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; able to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to recruit, hire and motivate a high performing IT team that values transparency and accountability.
  • Well-developed business acumen, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience negotiating with internal customers and external service providers.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; can handle the unexpected with flexibility.
  • A team player who favors collaborative approaches when working with internal and external partners.
  • A high energy executive; passionate about reaching goals, while keeping ego in check.
  • Experience driving digital transformation and business growth through innovation and the implementation of technology.
  • Knowledgeable with emerging technologies, and the ability to apply these in the service of the company's key business goals.
  • Knowledge of a range of vendor technology solutions; able to select and integrate the most appropriate technologies to support the business.

For candidates working in person or remotely in Santa Ana, CA, the reasonable pay range for this specific position is $216,200 - $297,200. 
The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate,
