The Finance Change Team provides expertise, management, and coordination of the Finance portfolio of change, supporting Finance and the Business in achieving its strategic objectives.  The Finance Product Manager (“FPM”) will be responsible for maintaining the inventory of technologies used by the Finance Function, driving exceptional service through internal and external service providers, ensuring those systems are supported, maintained and enhanced.  The FPM will support the Finance Leadership Team (“FLT”) in defining the technology roadmap to support strategic objectives, working closely with product owners, architects and engineering delivery leads to ensure solutions meet business needs.  Implementation of the Finance technology roadmap will be coordinated with Finance Change and Delivery Managers.
 
Job Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced FPM to join the Finance Change Team to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
This role requires specialist knowledge of the Finance Operating Model and is fully dedicated to supporting the Finance Function’s strategic objectives.
The FPM will be guided by the strategic priorities set by the FLT, working with the Group Head of Finance Change in translating the vision and strategy into a roadmap and coordinated plan for the Product Teams.
The successful candidate will be results driven and able to independently balance the need for tactical solutions to improve the Finance Function capabilities whilst understanding the long-term strategic implications of any decisions.
Interpersonal and problem-solving skills will be critical as well as the ability to move between strategic and detail, directing teams in the most appropriate way to deliver value to stakeholders.
Working with the Group Head of Finance Change, respective Finance Product Owners and other key stakeholders setting the Finance Product Team’s priorities, making key decisions on behalf of Finance and being its representative at a range of cross-functional bodies including Governance Forums, communities of practice and advisory boards.
Building strong relationships with stakeholders within and outside Finance across multiple locations, enabling the delivery of high-quality, effective support to the Finance Function and in turn the rest of the Business.   The FPM will provide support, guidance and direction, managing escalations with relevant stakeholders enabling the team to perform the activities within their scope.
The FPM will engage with other Product representatives across the organisation to share learnings aimed at the continuous improvement of the product model across TMHCC.
This role will be responsible for managing, developing, coaching, mentoring, empowering and supporting direct reports.   Leading by example, developing behaviours which underpin the company values, adopting a collaborative approach when interacting with all stakeholders.
Performance Objectives:
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Finance Function, ensure knowledge transfer to direct reports and product team as needed, removing and / or mitigating risk of key person dependencies.
  • Work with the FLT to define technology roadmap enabling strategic objectives to be met and proposing appropriate, tactical solutions to meet immediate business need, ensuring prioritisation based on business value
  • Assess business value, develop cases, and prioritise Epics, Features and User Stories to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with the business goals
  • Develop KPIs, reports and engagement to track productivity and performance of the Finance Product Team, including that of service providers (internal and external), the systems on the inventory and including spend perspective.
  • Engage with the Product Team in various regular meetings (scrums, backlog grooming) to support the effective delivery of Finance Change ensuring appropriate for the varying demands of each product.
  • Work with IT practice leads spanning many of the technical disciplines the team has, helping bring out the best performance in own teams’ resources.
  • Input into impact assessments raised by other change initiatives (Project Review Board/Product Teams/International/Corporate) to support the justification and prioritisation of change.
  • Meet with product stakeholders as needed, e.g. Business Sponsor, customer service, operations, Product Team engineers
 
Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the insurance market and experience of working within an insurance organisation supporting Finance Function and a range of applications and services.
  • Demonstrable business acumen in addition to technology skills. 
  • Skilled at structured problem solving, not intimidated by large and complex problems, but able to analyse, breaking them down and solving piece by piece while keeping sight of the overall ‘big picture’. Ultimately being able to communicate rationally to non-technical stakeholders the path to the solution.
  • Familiarity with a variety of delivery frameworks e.g., agile, waterfall as a Product Manager or Product Owner
  • Technical expertise to provide effective challenge and dialogue with the Technical Leads and Architects.
  • Demonstrable experience of ERP systems with particular focus on the core Finance modules - general ledgers, budgeting, reporting and allocation.
  • Skilled at looking at change backlog at varying levels of maturity and building-out epics, features and user stories .
  • Experience of managing a team.
