Senior Underwriter – Allied Medical, Social Services & SMML

Do you enjoy creative problem-solving and working independently in a collaborative team environment?

We are looking for an experienced underwriter to join our Allied Medical, Social Service, and SMML underwriting team. This position is in Encino, CA, Mt. Kisco or Atlanta, GA; you will be part of the regional team and will report to the Underwriting Product Manager.

Our Allied Medical and Social Service products are designed to provide coverage for healthcare providers/facilities and organizations providing Social Services. And our SMML product is designed to provide coverage for businesses for the actions of their staff; these businesses may need help to obtain coverage in the standard market.

Schedule: If you reside in Encino, CA, Mt. Kisco, or Atlanta, GA you will be working a hybrid schedule. 

Position Overview

This is a market-facing production underwriting role on a close-knit team of highly motivated and productive individuals. You will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business and developing relationships with our key customers to achieve our teams’ shared objectives. You will need to be able to operate with minimal supervision yet know when to seek guidance or approval, have the willingness to speak up and promote positive change, be results-oriented and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Performance Objectives

1.      Production – Achieve your individual premium and productions targets which include:

1.      Management and underwriting your renewal book, achieving a target renewal retention ratio, and servicing your renewals throughout the year.

2.      New business premium goals, quote, and workflow management targets.

2.      Marketing & Relationship Development – In this role, you will be responsible for marketing our products and proactively fostering and developing positive relationships with key customers.

3.      Profitability and Compliance – Profitability is a pillar in our corporate objectives; we strongly believe that you will develop a profitable book of business if you are disciplined and consciously operate within your granted underwriting authority, within the parameters of the underwriting guidelines, and follow direction given by compliance.

4.      Collaboration/Teamwork – As a team, we work together to achieve our collective goals; this requires collaborating with your peers on our team and within other aligned business units, including claims, product development, accounting, and operations.

5.      Underwriting Expertise –We want you to continually develop your underwriting expertise which will be achieved through conscious learning on the job and with support from us. This is an objective that adds value to our team, but it is also important for your personal development.

Experience & Education

·              Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).

·              Three to Five years of relevant underwriting experience in Medical Malpractice or Social Services.

·              Current position supports a Medical Malpractice or Social Service underwriting team and supports another Professional Liability product, and underwriting experience is a plus.

·              Efficient with Microsoft suite of products.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the following locations, the reasonable pay range for this specific position is $85,500 - $117,500 annually Encino, CA, and $93,200 -$128,200 annually Mount Kisco, New York.   The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by the Company.
