Reporting to: Head of International Catastrophe - Treaty Reinsurance  

Location: Fenchurch Street, 5 days onsite  

Position Type: Permanent, 35 hours p/w

About the Team
  

The Property Treaty Reinsurance team has been very successful in underwriting a profitable book over the last 10 years. This role is to work with the international Underwriters but will have access to all levels of the team as well. The treaty team is split into US and Canadian Cat, International Cat, Risk, Engineering, and Specialty. This role will be supporting the international catastrophe reinsurance book.  

   

The successful candidate will be a key member of the of the underwriting team but will also be involved with day-to-day transactions with Brokers and Underwriters and will get good opportunities to learn the business.

Job Purpose:  

Main responsibilities will be to provide general support to our underwriting team. This will involve maintaining records and checking policies, and assisting with day-to-day transactions with Brokers and Underwriters. This role offers excellent opportunities for learning and growth within the business.   

   

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Process broker enquiries (including renewals, new business, quotes etc.), follow-up and monitor progress towards budget.
  • Technical rating of accounts by thorough analysis, interpretation, and input of underwriting information.
  • Produce reports from systems for use by the Underwriters.
  • Collaborate with Brokers and clients to help negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Provide Broker and Client support work for Underwriters including preparation for renewals and Client meetings.
  • Monitor and Maintain workflow systems.
  • Maintain wordings and clauses database.
  • Filling of policy documents in the Imageright database.
  • Entering geographical exposure data into the Exact aggregate database.

   

  

Skills and Experience Specification:  

  • At least 5 years’ experience of the reinsurance/insurance market
  • Conscientious, hardworking and driven.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Language skills (e.g. Italian, German, Spanish, French) are preferable but not essential.
