TMHCC Stop Loss, a $2 Billion division within TMHCC, leads the way in providing medical stop loss insurance sold to employers. Medical Stop Loss provides an added layer of insurance protection to employers who choose to self-fund their health benefit plans. Self-funding can incur risks from catastrophic claims, and Medical Stop Loss insurance from Tokio Marine HCC is designed to protect employers from that risk.
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, assist in the day-to-day maintenance of complete and accurate ledger accounts. Accounting functions include, but are not limited to, preparation of journal entries and maintaining appropriate accruals. Analyst functions include review of and compliance with insurance-related contractual arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Relying on instructions, responsible for accomplishing the following as guided by others.
- Review and summarize the terms of producer compensation agreements.
- Prepare producer compensation statements in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Perform general ledger duties to assist with daily and monthly activity.
- Participate in monthly insurance accounting close process.
- Participate in monthly reconciliation of the underwriting margin, and associated balance sheet ending balances.
- Assist with daily activities and special projects as needed.
Skill Requirements
- General Ledger experience required. PeopleSoft is a plus.
- Strong technical, analytical, mathematical, and accounting aptitude.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals and legal documents.
- Intermediate proficiency and experience using MS Office Package, most specifically Excel.
- Willingness to develop excellent working knowledge of reporting and processing systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Basic understanding of Reinsurance and Risk Management is a plus.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff and management.
- Educational requirements include undergraduate degree in Business or a minimum of 4 to 5 years accounting-related experience.
