The Casualty Group, one of the many areas of specialty insurance we offer, is focused on Products Liability Insurance for our clients. TMHCC portals are the lifeblood creating the real time connection to many of TMHCC’s casualty service offerings. The umbrella of Casualty Group is pursuing a leader to grow the next generation of Casualty Products at TMHCC leveraging their collective insurance experience.  
 
The Role:
This position leads Casualty Products underwriting recommendations and decisions to protect the financial assets of the company and the carrier. This individual will also recommend strategies and objectives for the assigned block of business, coordinating with all organizational goals and standards, and is accountable for performance and attainment of profit goals of assigned underwriting staff within the company. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily underwriting of the assigned Managers, Underwriters and Support staff of the team. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing attachment points as determined, signing-off on underwriter discretion, acting as a resource for underwriting questions, managing the workflow, monitoring loss ratios for underwriters and matching up underwriter/producer relationships.
  • Complete Requests-for-Proposals (RFPs) in a timely manner and follow-up for status and competitive numbers.
  • Assist Underwriters in meeting annual goals for profitability, renewal retention, revenue growth, and new business production.
  • Work with producers directly as their management/expert resource to resolve problems and answer any high-level questions. Respond appropriately and in a timely manner to service requests.
  • Conduct on-site visits to producers to maintain and continue development of relationships with an emphasis on the underwriting procedures and philosophies to clients and staff.
  • Work with Information Systems to enhance the underwriting and policy maintenance systems within the Company.
  • Planning
    • Direct development of primarily long-term plans for respective area of the organization.
    • Anticipate changes in demand and technologies and adjust strategy to accommodate them.
    • Coordinate resources to ensure strategies are executed.
  • Communication
    • Communicate direction or results pertaining to area of responsibility to all levels, internally and externally.
    • Develop company policies and prepare internal/external reports.
    • Present briefings to obtain consensus/approval.
  • Business Controls and Policies
    • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
    • Create an environment that encourages development and implementation of effective business controls and policies.
    • Allocate resources to ensure proper implementation and monitoring.
Minimum Knowledge, Qualifications and Education Requirements:    
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) and/or Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) certification is preferred but not required.
  • 10+ years of experience in casualty insurance and underwriting.
  • Significant additional experience leading teams, managing budgets, and demonstrated profitability.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment.
