WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Sr. Technical Director is responsible for ensuring that the Opus technical production experience and production-related work delivers against agreed objectives and surpasses the client’s expectations. This role will represent Opus Agency with new and legacy clients in a lead technical position to direct teams to produce the technology for world-class keynotes for various sized audiences, road shows, breakout matrixes, expo experiences, virtual events and more. The role will be to ensure that all projects have the appropriate technical management, and lead large teams and clients from onboarding through execution and follow up for relationship building for future endeavors. This role will help internally to build technical best practices, maintain vendor relations, conduct freelance technical directors, and be on top of innovative new technologies we can offer our clients.

 

 

YOU SHOULD HAVE

       10+ years of Technical Director experience in a client-facing role

       Proven experience in leading and managing teams, understanding roles and responsibilities, designating staffing and overseeing teams

       Proven experience managing budgets, sub vendors, union and non-union labor, and production-specific elements

       Ability to travel as needed to ensure customer success and program oversight

       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

       Ability to collaborate in a team environment

       Ability to directly manage A/V vendors, labor companies, clients and client relationships

       Attention to detail regarding production schedules, onsite schedules, security, doc, labor call sheets, partner collaboration, and overall planning tools for technical production.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

​​Prior to event:

       Technical Visionary - understand clients goals and objectives and use experience to know what is possible and how to best to bring their vision to life

       Oversee technical project management responsibilities: plan, organize, schedule, and supervise crew, equipment and activities required to meet project deliverables. (includes video, audio, lighting, rigging, power distribution)

       Collaborate with Lead Producer on overall vision of the event and support in all aspects of the program

       Contribute on client calls and internal planning meetings

       Coordinate execution of acquiring and/or booking all venue equipment, perishables, supplies and rental gear.

       Coordinate execution of Event Permits, COI, Fire Marshall details, etc.

Onsite Responsibilities:

       In charge of supervising crew for onsite load in, setup, tear down and load out of AV equipment in addition to physical configuration and connecting and interfacing all AV equipment.

       Work side by side with Lead Producer to manage any changes in scope or additional items added while onsite

       Provide troubleshooting in the event of equipment failure or system breakdown.

       Inform Opus of and any potential labor overages and schedule adjustments affecting budget

       Manage labor schedules

 

Post show:

       Survey vendors, contractors, gear, technologies, labor pools.

       Assist with resolve of budgets.

       Continue to build lasting vendor relations

       Document best practices and archive all show files with team

       Archive any contacts or venue details into server system.

HOW WE’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU

 

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between

$130,000 to $145,000. Our salary ranges are based on third-party national average market compensation analysis. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
