The Mars Agency is seeking a proactive, self-directed Accounting Manager with strong technical accounting skills and demonstrated ability to produce accurate and timely internal and external financial reports. The Accounting Manager will participate in the financial reporting and closing process by preparing consolidation, account reconciliations and journal entries in a high-growth global environment. This position will work cross-functionally and collaborate with key business partners to support existing and new business initiatives, while ensuring that processes adhere to GAAP and internal controls. This position will report to the VP Finance & Controller and may be remote.
 
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in and manage the Financial Reporting process for the internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial statements are timely, supported and reconciled in accordance with GAAP
  • Consolidate and review legal entities including international subsidiaries
  • Perform variance analysis and analytical review to identify and investigate unusual fluctuations
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and journal entries as needed
  • Coordinate and manage annual audit and tax processes
  • Assist with Treasury responsibilities including analysis on cash position
  • Research accounting and reporting matters to maintain and ensure GAAP compliance and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Monitor the effectiveness of internal controls and implementation of best practices to elevate and drive efficiencies
  • Support technology initiatives and assist with ERP process improvement testing and implementation
  • Leverage technology and enhance automation of financial processes and reporting of data for efficiency and ability to scale 
  • Oversee other areas assigned to provide cross functional experience
  • Assume responsibility for other special projects as assigned
SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred but not required
  • 3-7 years Public Accounting (Senior or Manager) preferred or combination of public accounting and relevant private company experience, including management of staff
  • Strong understanding of GAAP  
  • Strong technical, analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, time management, organization and communication skills
  • Excellent advanced Excel skills and solid working experience with financial Consolidations
  • High proficiency in using advanced financial software tools and systems including NetSuite or equivalent ERP
  • Self-starter who can work independently and within a team, comfortable in a dynamic and fast paced environment with ability to meet deadlines

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience and location.
