STV currently has an opening in our Seattle office for a Communication Inspector on the Sound Transit Northgate/Eastlink LRT Project in our Rail Systems group which is part of the Transportation and Infrastructure division.

Candidate will be working in a challenging environment supporting the deployment of communication systems in facilities and transit environments.


Communication Field Inspector – Coordinates and performs observation of construction activities related to the specific communication systems as required. Reviews construction plans, specifications, and other plans. Participates in meetings to discuss construction details and resolves issues with contractors and other project stakeholders. May make field measurements. May ensure conformance with applicable safety standards and regulations. Identifies on-site project problems. Observes reports and alerts appropriate members of project team on non-conformance issues. Monitors the correction of project deficiencies. Identifies and recommends approval of necessary contract and/or plan adjustments to accommodate field conditions. Maintains daily diary and field records of material and quantities used. Calculates and recommends formal approval of appropriate progress payments to contractors for work completed.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 12 years of related experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent degree desirable
  •  In-depth experience with inspecting/constructing transit train control projects. 
  • Strong report-writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with contractors and to resolve field problems.
  • Good planning, organizational, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position 
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
