We are hiring someone for our Infection Preventionist role who is responsible for coordinating the implementation of our established  infection prevention and control policies and practices. The Infection Preventionist will collect, analyze and  provide infection data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners; consult on infection risk  assessment and prevention control strategies; provide education and training; and implement evidence-based  infection prevention and control practices. What You Will Do:   
  • Plans, organizes, develops, coordinates, and directs the Infection Prevention Program and its activities in accordance with Federal and State laws and regulations. Acts as Community  Infection Preventionist. This includes, but is not limited to:   
  • Evaluating methods and procedures used in infection control   
  • Maintaining current infection control policies and procedures   
  • Monitoring the cleanliness, disinfection, and storage of equipment, medications, and environmental cleanliness   
  • Monitoring staff and ensuring compliance with infection control standards  o Reviewing diagnosed and suspected infections    
  • Reviewing infection surveillance reports    
  • Maintaining monthly infection control line lists   
  • Calculating nosocomial rates and noting any trends in the infections   
  • Summarizing reports and trends - developing plan for infection management  within each level of care as needed  
  • Participates in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) function by collecting  and analyzing data, establishing new procedures to ensure correction of recognized care issues  and reporting at QAPI meetings.    
  • Participates in the annual review and revision of the infection control and prevention policy and  procedures.   
  • Assists the Human Resources Representative with employee health requirements.  
  • Performs related work as assigned, including Charge Nurse duties as needed.   
  • Conducts quarterly infection control meeting or more frequently.   
  • Provides hands-on training to Health Services staff while working with residents. Provides 1:1  education and audits.   
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates antibiotic stewardship program.   
  • Monitors and tracks vaccinations.   
  • Collaborates with all interdisciplinary departments in providing infection control best practices.

  • Ability to assess  the need for new trainings and changes in protocol and policy. Ability to maintain necessary records.  Ability to be flexible to meet the requirements of the position, thorough knowledge of Title 22, OBRA,  OSHA, and Prop 65. Ability to work collaboratively with staff of all levels. Ability to train and provide  hands on training and guidance to staff. Ability to accurately input data into computer with minimal  errors. Ability to act with patience, tact and courtesy in dealing with residents, their families and staff  under demanding and difficult conditions. Sensitivity and understanding of issues related to aging and  cultural diversity.   
  • Current California nursing license, Basic Life Support certification and qualified to practice in the state of  California as a RN and provide required medication training. Infection Preventionist Training Certificate  preferred. Minimum of two (2) years consecutive experience in field of nursing immediately prior to  application and minimum of one (1) year of experience as a licensed nurse in providing direct nursing care to  aged persons, preferably in an acute or long-term care settings.
