Life Enrichment Assistant
Description
We are looking for an individual who assists in planning, organizing, and implementing programs and activities which encourage the social, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual development of residents as an integral part of their total care in accordance with the community's policies, procedures, and regulations. What You Will Do:
- Leads simple group activities to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the residents throughout the community, in group participation and on an individual basis, including with those in higher levels of care.
- Assists in making provisions for materials and supplies. Maintains the inventory of materials and supplies sufficient to complete activities as needed.
- Prepares and posts a monthly calendar of activities. Communicate with residents and family members on an ongoing basis regarding activities and information.
- Assists with assessments and maintaining up-to-date records, plans, reports, and evaluations of the program and resident participation and functioning.
- Assists with set up and breakdown of furniture configurations, audiovisual and other activities related equipment.
- Decorates assigned areas to recognize a full spectrum of holidays and diverse groups.
- Provides personalized reminders to residents in higher levels of care. Assists in creating and distributing marketing activities to all residents.
- Assists in scheduling and confirming locations and transportation for outings. Contacts and coordinates with outside vendors or groups as necessary.
- Assists in contacting, coordinating, and providing instruction to volunteers and vendors as instructed by the Director of Life Enrichment. Coordinates with CNAs and other staff when necessary.
- Recognizes and reports concerns regarding residents' physical, mental and/or emotional status to a member of Management Staff.
- Performs other work as assigned.

Who You Are:
- You enjoy working with people and have interpersonal skills.
- You can use tact and courtesy in dealing with residents under sometimes trying conditions. You can show patience and understanding.
- You like your days do be varied, can handle a fast-paced environment, and don’t mind working under pressure.
- High school graduate or equivalent. Associate Arts degree in Recreation or related field preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year recent experience in social or recreational program. Completion of or ability to complete ARF Activities Leadership Training course approved by the state of California within one (1) year and all other requirements under Federal and State laws for the position. Experience in aging or related services preferred.
- Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to issues related to an aging population. Basic knowledge of bereavement, grief and loss management theory and practice. Basic knowledge of exercise and other equipment used in activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate ideas and instructions respectfully to residents and staff.
- Discretion and sound judgment skills to determine the extent of a resident’s ability to participate in activities.
- Good English written and verbal communication skills. Self-starters with organizational and analytical skills to plan and complete work assignments with minimal supervision and within established deadlines.
- Ability to be creative, multi-task, plan, organize, and instruct others. Ability to chart goals, approach, and progress of residents. Ability to act with caring, patience, tact, and courtesy in dealing with residents, their families, staff and vendors under demanding and difficult conditions.
- Ability to learn and utilize technical and software skills as necessary. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Physical skills and ability to perform work that requires continual standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Experience leading group activities with older adults, including balance classes, yoga, stretching, dance and other wellness programs.
- Musical proficiency in instruments such as piano, guitar, flute or similar, to engage residents through music
