Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Reporting to: Accounting Manager, Services, North America & APAC
Location: Australia - North Sydney
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week
The Position
This role is essential to ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the broader
finance activities for the company RES ENERGY SERVICES PTY LTD. As an Assistant
Accountant, you will be responsible for the control and posting of journal entries,
employee expense tracking, bank reconciliations, and provision management. The role
supports both internal and external audits and contributes to process improvement
within the finance function. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a key support
position within the Finance team for the APAC region.
Key Accountabilities
- Monitor and control accounting journal entries to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure records align with bank statements
- Manage and record employee credit card expenses, ensuring compliance with company policy.
- Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring accurate and timely
documentation. - Identify and support improvements in accounts receivable processes and departmental
efficiency. - Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to support overall financial
objectives. - Be an exemplary role model to encourage the avoidance of risk-taking behaviours across the business and provide the personal commitment never to “risk it”.
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the administration department relating to
operations and service jobs. - Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable.
- Order and job entry/progress claims.
- Revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
- Engage with customers to arrange deliveries.
- Analyse accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
- Utilize the company ERP and CRM systems (CMMS desirable).
- Engage with the HQ in Spain to arrange the whole sale process.
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
- Review, establish and maintain files and records to document transactions.
- Preparation of financial statements.
- Preparation of accounts and reports.
- Treasury control.
- Other administrative tasks required by the management
Knowledge
- Understanding of Australian taxation regulations and compliance standards.
- Basic knowledge of IFRS and/or AASB accounting standards.
- Familiarity with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Understanding of monthly and year-end closing processes.

Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Involvement in external or internal audit processes.
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Higher Vocational Certificate in Administration and Finance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is an advantage (e.g., SAP).
