You will be joining one of the largest Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT) in the world, with significant growth ambitions for the UK and European markets, including moving into new offices at 3 St. James Square. Position Overview:

 

Reporting to the UK Tax Manager, the Senior Tax Analyst will ensure the timely delivery of the UK group’s tax requirements. They will support the UK tax function in providing advice to the business, liaising with business leaders and external advisors to achieve this in support of the tax efficient growth of our UK business and their own personal development. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Tax Compliance

  • Liaise with the wider finance teams and stakeholders (internal and external) to obtain the information needed to prepare direct and indirect tax returns.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate UK corporation tax and indirect tax returns for manager review and submit the returns in a timely manner.  Preparation of the UK REIT financial statements and other REIT compliance requirements for manager review and submission in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the data collection requirements of internal tax review and/or tax audit processes are met.
  • Support the delivery of any identified tax process efficiencies (including tax automation testing). 
  • Preparation of workings to support the tax return calculations.
  • Preparation of other relevant returns for the UK group (e.g. CIS returns, CIR return etc.).
  • Preparation of tax accounting calculations as required.
  • Support the tracking of UK REIT requirements.
  • Support the group’s other UK compliance requirements that arise on a periodic basis (e.g. Tax Strategy updates, Tax Policy and procedure updates).

Tax Structuring

  • Involvement in and support of management in meeting tax structuring and/or planning needs.
  • Assemble and collect required data and information to meet agreed tax due diligence transaction related and post-transaction tax requirements including entity onboarding processes and meeting compliance needs. 
  • Assemble and store transfer pricing data (as set out) to fulfil documentation requirements.

Other tasks

  • Ability to self-organize and multi-task flexibly in managing multiple work streams.
  • Pro-active approach to the collection and organization of required and requested tax data.
  • Help to develop and manage an effective and full tax documentation management system. 
  • Arrange and ensure the timely processing and payment of UK tax-related payments.
  • Proactively expand tax knowledge into new areas where necessary to support business needs.
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge of changing relevant tax laws and regulations to identify, implement, and apply any changes that are required in relation to the company’s business.
  • Manage the drafting and delivery of any internal reporting requirements in relation to UK tax compliance.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Organisational Relationships:

  • Work across the finance teams to facilitate the assembly of financial data to ensure tax compliance.
  • Work across the tax team to ensure the preparation of accurate and timely UK tax compliance.
  • Communicate with Treasury to ensure tax payments are made in a correct and timely manner.
  • Work with legal to ensure tax forms are prepared/provided in relation to company transactions.
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure the assembly of post-transactional documents in entity onboarding.
  • Work with advisors in helping ensure delivery of relevant tax forms/returns and tax advice.

 

 

 

Candidate Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

Must have for the role:

  • Recently qualified - Professional accounting and/or tax qualification (i.e. ACA and/or CTA) or equivalent UK REIT Tax experience.
  • Suitable UK tax compliance work experience.
  • UK tax technical experience, including compliance, research, and planning, preferably in real estate.
  • Ability to meet agreed priorities within the requirements and deadlines set.
  • Willingness to be self-taught in following any identified tax training and development needs.
  • Analysis and application of tax theory to offer solutions to basic business scenarios/transactions.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain basic tax concepts to non-tax professionals.

 

Desirable but not essential:

 

  • OneSource, Alphatax and Yardi software knowledge and experience.
  • Real Estate / REIT experience.
  • Top ten (or equivalent) professional experience.
