Position Summary: 
 
Reporting to the SVP, Corporate Finance, the VP, Investor Relations will be responsible for developing and overseeing all aspects of investor relations efforts at Realty Income. The primary goals of the position is to further Realty Income’s access to debt and equity capital and to increase the company’s name recognition, globally. Key initiatives include: first, developing and maintaining an investor targeting strategy that includes outreach to generalist institutional equity and fixed income investors; secondly, developing and maintaining industry and S&P 500 leading investor relations communications material, which could include development of presentations geared toward new and generalist investors, presentation(s) meant to engage fixed income investors, earnings call presentations, and the corporate website; thirdly, generating internal buy-in for as well as planning and executing Realty Income’s first investor day in 2025. The VP, Investor Relations will manage and mentor one to two junior staff members. 
 
The VP, Investor Relations will cultivate relationships with the investment community (institutional debt and equity investors, registered investment advisors, retail investors, and industry research analysts). A key objective of the role is to persuasively and credibly communicate Realty Income’s investment proposition to investors together with its strategy, financial performance, recent events, and ESG efforts in order to enhance the understanding of existing investors and cultivate interest from new investors. To do this, the VP, Investor Relations will exhibit adept verbal and written communication skills and advanced PowerPoint skills. The VP, Investor Relations will exhibit a deep understanding of Realty Income’s business model, recent developments, and competitive positioning, and translating it into a compelling message for investors and delivering it through strategic targeting initiatives mentioned above. 
The VP, Investor Relations will adapt messaging as needed to position the company favorably to support our future success and will serve as the primary point of contact for all investor-related matters, collaborating closely with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders within the company. 
 
What you will be working on: 
 
Investor Communication 
  • Develop, recommend to management, and then implement a comprehensive investor communication strategy to ensure effective and consistent messaging to the investment community.
  • Build and execute investor targeting strategy to enable engagement with new real estate and non-real estate institutional equity and debt investors, globally.
  • Develop, recommend to management, plan and carry out an investor day. This will include crafting presentation material around key themes, ensuring alignment with best practices, and managing preparation material and “day of” logistics.
  • Plan and carry out non-deal roadshows and property tours to maximize engagement with investors in the U.S. and abroad.
  • Prepare and deliver thoughtful and visually compelling investor presentations, craft and write earnings call scripts and other external messaging materials uniquely tailored to each of Realty Income’s stakeholder groups.
  • Maintain running list of speaking points to address frequently asked questions by investors and analysts, ensuring consistency of message and facts amongst all external-facing individuals.
  • Address inquiries from institutional and retail investors, financial advisors, analysts, and the media promptly and accurately, providing clear, appropriate, and thorough information.
  • Monitor investment research and industry news to proactively formulate timely and appropriate responses.
  • Lead the Annual Meeting preparation, including production of the Annual Report to Shareholders, supporting outreach to investors on corporate governance matters, and supporting the creation of the annual proxy materials.
  • Oversee Corporate Communications efforts including website content curation and review, aligning the team’s efforts with the overall investor communication strategy.
Relationship Management 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential investors, sell-side analysts, and other key stakeholders.
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in regular meetings, roadshows, and conferences with investors on behalf of Realty Income in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Australia.
  • Drive value internally by acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing insights around investor sentiment, positioning, and concerns.
Competitive Analysis and Benchmarking 
  • Analyze and interpret financial data and investment industry trends which can be used to inform investor targeting and messaging.
  • Prepare reports and presentations comparing competitors’ financial performance, operational metrics, and valuation metrics against other S&P 500 companies and industry benchmarks.
 
What is expected from you: 
  • Minimum of 7-10+ years of experience in investor relations, equity research, corporate strategy and finance, investment banking, or consulting.
  • Four-year bachelor’s degree with a major in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or Finance preferred. MBA, CFA, and/or CPA preferred.
  • Strong ability to synthesize and convey strategic and financial messages in written materials and through PowerPoint.
  • Strong ability to present strategic and financial messages in small and large group formats.
  • Advanced design skills in PowerPoint.
  • Familiar with financial modeling techniques and valuation methods used by REIT analysts and investors is a plus.
  • Charismatic communicator and passionate relationship builder.
  • Expectation for in-office attendance 4 days per week.
What you will get in return: 
 
The base salary for this role is in the range of $153,635 - $294,490. You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
