From the boardroom to the breakroom, our team members make a difference every day. The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of payroll for the US, UK & the Netherlands. Meticulously maintaining highly confidential personnel and financial information this role will perform high-level reconciliations across multiple platforms and resolve compliance issues. The Payroll Supervisor will stay abreast of industry trends to ensure compliance with Company policies and federal, state, and local government regulations. This position will also prioritize process improvement and customer service while leading efforts to improve efficiencies and streamline company payroll processes.Specific duties of the Payroll Supervisor include, but are not limited to:
  • Independently and accurately process, audit, and review the semi-monthly domestic payroll for 400+ employees in 20+ states on a timely basis.
    • US payroll responsibilities include the computing of straight and overtime wages; withholdings for federal, FICA, state, and local taxes; and deductions for employee benefits and garnishments
  • Collaborate with third party payroll provider to process monthly payroll for UK and Netherlands company for 40+ employees.
    • Global payroll responsibilities include review and reconciliation of UK and Netherlands payrolls, planning and preparation of annual forms such as P60 and P11D in compliance with HMRC Requirements, and planning and preparation of annual statements in compliance with the Government of Netherlands. 
  • Supervise timely workflow of payroll cycles, schedules, company pay dates, and holidays.
  • Provide expertise on payroll-related matters through superior customer service for information and questions.
  • Utilize audit reports for proper balancing and reconciliation of pre & post payroll processing.
  • Comply with tax withholding and reporting for new states and countries; work with various government agencies to create new tax withholding and unemployment accounts.
  • Work with Stock Administrator to calculate taxes and report earnings for stock vesting and taxable compensation reporting.
  • Reconcile payroll, PTO accruals, monitor payroll tax deposits, and review payroll tax returns to ensure timeliness and accuracy
  • Provide post-payroll reporting for Treasury & Accounting, in addition to ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
  • Prepare annual workers’ compensation estimates and annual audit schedules reconciled to payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and provide support for audits.
  • Collaborate with Benefits Manager on benefit payment and deduction schedules
  • Oversee the administration of the electronic timekeeping system. Ensure the proper setup of employee information and valid data transfers to/from the Time Tracking System to Payroll.
  • Performs other special projects as assigned.
 What you need to be successful:
  • It is expected to execute the duties of this position a qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum 4 years of California payroll experience with at least 2 years in a lead role is required.
  • Solid understanding of payroll, taxes, benefits, systems, and processes.
  • Workday experience a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of international payroll requirements processes for both the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Understanding of statutory HMRC compliance and statutory Government of Netherlands compliance is required.
  • CPP designation, Certified Payroll Professional designation a plus.
  • CPP-UK, International Payroll Certification (UK and Netherlands payroll) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, use time efficiently, and develop action plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain high confidentiality.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel.
  • Ability to execute in ambiguous situations and take the lead without explicit instructions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to large groups and senior levels of management.
 The base salary for this role is in the range of ($70,690 – $128,783). You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data. .
