What you will be working on:    

Reporting to the Lead Tax Accountant, the Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for assisting with Realty Income Corporations tax and joint-venture compliance. Due to Realty Income’s operations throughout the country and its extensive network of legal entities, the position emphasizes a need to execute a high volume of compliance, tax strategy, and related tasks.

Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare and review work papers needed to prepare tax returns for joint ventures and other entities.
  • Maintain and update recurring tax compliance schedules and tax returns for federal, state, and municipal filings related to our joint ventures.   The maintenance of the tax calendar is a priority of the tax function and involves tracking the obligations of all legal entities of Realty Income.
  • Prepare and process tax payments for our joint ventures.
  • Monitor and review notices from taxing authorities.  Prepare responses, as necessary. 
  • Assist with quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Prepare fixed asset roll forwards for REIT, partnership entities, and joint ventures.
  • Review processes and work throughout the team to simplify and digitize.

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 

  • Knowledge of income tax accounting and principles.
  • Experience with research of taxing authorities’ procedures and preparation of forms.
  • General knowledge of legal business entities and structure, including joint ventures.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast-changing dynamic work environment and follow instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent PC skills including tax compliance software, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret taxing authority forms and financial reports.
  • Desire to work in a growth environment, contribute to improved processes, and demonstrate continuous learning capabilities.

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related study.
  • 2+ years of tax preparation experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant license (or currently pursuing) and/or enrolled agent preferred.

 

What you will get in return:    

  • The base salary for this role is in the range of $72,293 - $102,389.
  • You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
