What you will be working on:    
    
You will be responsible for global transactions at the property level in accordance with US GAAP, tracking these transactions for internal and external reporting purposes, and reviewing schedules that support financial data disclosed to the public. You will also manage the month-end close process, providing significant contributions (planning, coordination, implementation, etc.) toward change initiative projects, and providing leadership and mentoring to the broader accounting team.    
    
General Ledger    
  • Manage the overall coordination of the month-end close within the accounting team
  • Complete month-end close procedures and accurately review balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations to meet the company’s reporting deadline.
  • Support the recording of new property acquisitions, additions, and disposition transactions.
  • Review international intercompany transactions to ensure they are recorded appropriately.
  • Review the integration of third-party accounting records into Yardi, the primary ERP software.
  • Review of journal entries.
Financial Analysis    
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Provide explanations of any significant fluctuations to accounts under management.
  • Prepare disclosures and/or board materials related to international accounting fees.
Budgeting and Forecasting    
  • Support Property Management and Finance teams in monthly/quarterly/annual property budgeting and forecasting processes.
External/Internal Audit    
  • Assist in audits and analysis of both globally consolidated level and international subsidiary level financials, as well as walk-through of internal controls.
  • Document and certify accounting procedures and processes.
Other Responsibilities    
  • Supervise, train, and develop Staff, Senior, and Lead Accountants to maximize growth opportunities and accomplish department objectives.
  • Collaborate with Director, Accounting to establish weekly and monthly work schedules for accountants.
  • Research, interpret, and apply accounting standards as needed.
  • Support/Back Up other accounting functions as needed.
  • Consistently review current processes for improvement.
  • Cross-train accountants to provide backup coverage.
  • Performs other special projects as assigned.
  • Work with external and internal parties to resolve accounting issues.
  • Present updates on process changes to the team and wider organization.
    
What is expected from you:    
    
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or related field. 
  • We expect the ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant work experience in public accounting and/or for a publicly traded company, with preference for real estate industry experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, including complex transactions such as property acquisitions, disposals, and international intercompany transactions.
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, with the ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting standards as needed to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting.
  • Experience with Yardi or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, including proficiency in integrating third-party accounting records and generating accurate financial reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proven track record of supervising and mentoring accounting staff, coordinating month-end close processes, and providing leadership in change initiative projects to drive departmental and organizational objectives forward.

    

What you will get in return:    
  • The base salary for this role is in the range of $98,568 - $158,543.
  • You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
