Position Overview: 

The Property Tax Billing Specialist will manage and oversee the Automated Billing System for property tax and business license billings, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the automated workflows. This role will also monitor accounts receivable collections, follow up on outstanding invoices, and provide customer service to clients regarding billing inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversight of Automated Billing Operations

  • Oversee the automated billing process for property taxes and business licenses, ensuring that thousands of property-related transactions are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Monitor the performance of the RPA system, ensuring that automated workflows are functioning correctly and resolving issues or exceptions that arise.
  • Perform data validation and quality checks to reduce errors in tenant billing, receivables, and ledger updates.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for automated billing processes, ensuring they can be easily scaled and improved in the future.
  • Manually prepare, charge, and issue property tax and business license invoices for any complex or non-standard transactions that fall outside of the automated processes.

Accounts Receivable Collection

  • Effective and timely follow-up of all outstanding direct billed property taxes and business license charges and invoices.
    • Responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed charge memos detailing collection efforts.
  • Responsible for monitoring client payments through review of accounts receivable report to ensure compliance.
    • Provide exceptional customer service to clients regarding billing inquiries, payment options, and property tax-related questions.
    • Escalate delinquent non-payments to the Property Tax Supervisor for review and direction on the next steps, including Demand Notices and Notices of Default.
    • Make suggestions for tax balance write-offs due to failed collection efforts or balance.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of related work experience in real estate, property tax, or accounts receivable.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field from a four-year college or university is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to identify information to clarify a situation, seek that information from appropriate, multiple sources, and use skillful questioning to abstract the information.  Notices discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information.
  • Excellent attention-to-detail skills; ability to monitor own work and work of others for completeness and accuracy; ability to organize information and materials for others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to large groups and management.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive, working relationships.
  • Excellent PC skills including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Yardi, and Internet.

What you will get in return:

The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $22.14 - $36.91 ($46,066 - $76,764). You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
