What you will be working on:

General Ledger
  • Manage the overall coordination of the month-end close within the Accounting team.
  • Review of monthly debt reconciliation and oversight of all accounting matters related to our debt portfolio.
  • Review of monthly derivative activity and the associated accounting.
  • Review of monthly activity related to our credit investment portfolio.
  • Review of month-end close procedures for select account reconciliations prepared by various members of the Accounting team, including corporate assets and liabilities.
  • Review of journal entries.
Financial Reporting
  • Primary review of the schedules supporting the various debt journal entries and disclosures in SEC filings.
  • Primary review of the schedules supporting the various derivative journal entries and disclosures in SEC filings.
  • Involvement in the accumulation of data and review of other schedules that support SEC financial reporting financials and footnotes.
Other Responsibilities
  • Supervise and develop members of the Accounting team to maximize growth opportunities and accomplish department objectives.
  • Involvement in the streamlining of internal processes to gain efficiencies and maintain sound internal controls.
  • Special projects, including performing accounting research and formally documenting the conclusions of management.
  • System and software implementation and upgrades, including Yardi and other relevant software.
  • Frequently assisting Accounting Management with the review of schedules that support public filings.
  • Frequently working with external auditors to comply with SEC and SOX requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.
  • We expect the ideal candidate will have 6+ years of relevant work experience in public accounting and/or for a publicly traded company, with a preference for real estate industry experience.
  • Proven track record of managing and coordinating processes efficiently within an accounting team.
  • Experience in developing and implementing streamlined procedures to ensure timely and accurate completion of activities.
  • Strong understanding of debt accounting principles and practices, with the ability to identify and address discrepancies effectively.
  • Experience in reviewing derivative activity and associated accounting entries, including hedging strategies and fair value assessments.
  • Knowledge of derivative accounting standards and regulations, with the ability to apply them accurately in financial reporting processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, particularly regarding debt and derivative disclosures in Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Clear understanding of U.S. GAAP and its application in complex accounting transactions, including debt and derivatives.
  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex accounting concepts and findings to various stakeholders, including senior management and external auditors.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising and developing members of a team to maximize growth opportunities and achieve department objectives.
  • Proven track record of fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment while maintaining accountability and high-performance standards.
What you will get in return:
  • The base salary for this role is in the range of $112,362 - $176,563.
  • You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
