Position Overview: 

The Tax Accountant will be responsible for assisting with Realty Income Corporation’s tax and joint-venture compliance. Due to Realty Income’s operations throughout the country and its extensive network of legal entities, the position emphasizes a need to execute a high volume of compliance, tax strategy, and related tasks. 

This is a hybrid role based in our San Diego (Del Mar Heights) headquarters. We offer flexibility with remote work on Mondays and Fridays, while Tuesdays through Thursdays are in-office days to foster a collaborative work environment. Enjoy an excellent work-life balance with a 37-hour work week, including "5-hour Fridays!"

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare and maintain tax fixed asset records, tax depreciation reports, and supporting documentation for tax return filings.
  • Prepare work papers for tax returns related to joint ventures and other entities.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating recurring tax compliance schedules for federal, state, and municipal filings.
  • Prepare tax payments for estimates, extensions, and tax returns.
  • Document and maintain procedural notes for various tax processes.
  • Monitor and process notices from taxing authorities and prepare responses as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Currently pursuing or holding an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and/or enrolled agent status.
  • 1+ years of experience in partnership or corporate tax preparation.
  • Public accounting/tax firm experience preferred. 
  • Experience with tax preparation software, such as OneSource and GoSystems.
  • General knowledge of legal business entities and structures, including joint ventures.
  • Basic knowledge of income tax accounting principles.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and follow instructions effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in PC applications, including tax compliance software, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • A desire to work in a growth-oriented environment, contribute to process improvements, and demonstrate continuous learning.

What you will get in return: 

The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $31.95 - $47.34 ($66,464 - $98,470). You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
