We seek an outside plant expert for our Fiber Guardian Construction Coordinator role. Is that you?
Being a Construction Coordinator at PRG is a crucial role responsible for assessing, documenting, and reporting on potential fiber optic installation routes. They collect precise data on existing infrastructure, terrain, and property details to ensure efficient and compliant network deployment.
Responsibilities
- Site surveys: Conduct on-site inspections to determine the best path for fiber optic cables, identifying potential obstacles and hazards.
- Data collection: Gather accurate measurements and record detailed field notes on access points, conduit paths, equipment locations, and routing for residential and commercial properties.
- Infrastructure assessment: Examine existing infrastructure, such as utility poles, conduits, and buildings, to determine suitability for new fiber installations.
- Documentation and reporting: Create detailed survey drawings, maps, and reports for the design and engineering teams using GIS and CAD software.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work with engineers, designers, construction crews, and local authorities to ensure surveys align with project goals and regulatory requirements.
- Compliance: Research property records, land titles, and local regulations to ensure all surveying and installation plans are compliant with legal and environmental standards.
- Inspection and quality assurance: Inspect ongoing fiber construction projects, verifying that installations adhere to design specifications and industry standards.
- Troubleshooting: Address and resolve discrepancies between survey data and actual site conditions.
Qualifications
- Able to walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. Removing vault lids and placing them back in place using vault hooks.
- Able to reach into vaults to connect to tracer wire
- Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and marked underground utilities.
- Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
- Able navigate company software and databases to provide updates quickly and accurately
- Able to use Dynatel locating equipment or the equivalent of
- Knowledge of underground utilities experience is a plus.
- Educated on local area dig laws.
- Strong leadership skills to mentor and influence subcontractors and vendors
- Customer service acumen to interpret, communicate, and help deliver client needs.
- Strong understanding of fiber and coax engineering
- Computer proficiency and Microsoft tools to create, manage, and present data and reporting to various stakeholders and management.
- Strong communication skills and ability to adjust delivery to your audience verbally and in writing.
- Willingness to use your vehicle in the field (mileage reimbursement at the standard federal rate)
- Interested and able to work overtime occasionally to meet project demands.
- Perform job functions both indoors and outdoors rain or shine.
- Must be able to walk extensively, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day
- Receptive to field training
- Must have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and federal/state required auto insurance
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly salary ranging from $28-$32 depending on experience
- National mileage reimbursement for vehicle use.
