Compensation:

New hires for this position typically start between $30.33 and $37.91 hourly, depending on factors such as work location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market conditions. While the full pay range is provided to support pay transparency, individual compensation will vary within the range based on these factors.

What you'll do

Set up, operates, or tends milling machines or lathes to mill, shape, groove, turns or profile metal work pieces. Performs complex series of progressive machining operations on diversified work to close tolerances. Read blueprints, drawings and diagrams to ensure customer specifications are met. Perform machine programming and train lower grade employees.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Removes work pieces from machines, and checks to ensure that they conform to specifications, using measuring instruments such as microscopes, gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Observes milling machine operation and adjust controls to ensure conformance with specified tolerances.
  • Works independently with little or no assistance
  • Edits and Sets up the CNC Mills machines and Lathes
  • Positions and secures work pieces on machines, using holding devices, measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Studies blueprints, layouts, sketches, or work orders to assess work piece specifications to determine tooling instructions, tools and materials needed, and sequences of operations.
  • Moves controls to set cutting specifications, to position cutting tools and work pieces in relation to each other, and to start machines.
  • Verifies alignment of work pieces on machines, using measuring instruments such as rulers, gauges, indicators or calipers.
  • Moves cutters or material manually or by turning hand wheels, or engage automatic feeding mechanisms to mill work pieces to specifications.
  • Replaces worn tools using hand tools.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Performs quality control and inspection procedures within the department.
  • Maintains work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations.
  • Be a role model, coach and trainer for new associates to foster a team environment.

 

 

What you'll bring (required qualifications):

•          High School Diploma or G.E.D.

•          Knowledgeable in reading and understanding blueprints, drawings, and customer specifications.

•          Experience with tight tolerances.

•          Ability to exhibit critical thinking in order to see through complicated manufacturing processes.

•          Knowledge of proper cutting tools used in various metals (Aluminum, Inconel, Titanium, Phenolic)

•          1-2 years’ experience as a CNC Mills Machinist.

Preferably you'll bring (preferred/desirable qualifications):

  • Multi Access Machine experience
  • Lathe operator experience
