What you'll do
As a cook you are to prepare meals from scratch following exact recipes and specifications using a variety of cooking methods while following all food safety guidelines and procedures. Other primary responsibilities include filling customer orders to 100% through proper measurements, portion control, product labeling and staging methods.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are but not limited to:
- Preparation of meals and entrees following specific recipes, meal plans, menu cycles and portion sizes.
- Complying with all health and safety regulations regarding food preparation and handling.
- Working on more than one item at a time
- Operating stoves, ovens, slicers, grills and other kitchen equipment.
- Cutting meats, vegetables and preparing various other items in preparation for cooking.
- Packaging and labeling meals for shipment.
- Using many different methods of cooking including grilling, roasting, Sautee, baking, poaching etc.
- Preparing sauces, gravies, starches, meats, entrees, etc. from scratch recipes
- Maintain a clean kitchen and work environment, including refrigerators, freezers and storage areas.
- Wash dishes
- Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels of products and supplies. Also assist in stock rotation.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and reach out and above shoulders.
- Must be able to stand continuously for up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to move from hot to cold conditions through the shift
What you'll bring
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to effectively multi-task
• Must have excellent time management skills
• Minimum 3-year high volume catering cooking
• Must understand cooking measurements
• Must have commercial cooking experience using all methods of cooking including grilling, roasting, Sautee, baking, poaching, etc.
• Must know various cuts of meat, poultry and other proteins
• Must be able to accurately follow and scale recipes
• Must have excellent knife skills and understand various types of cutting methods
• Must understand food service terminology
• Must have a valid WA state Food Handler’s Permit.
• Must be able to read and write English.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers.
Preferably you'll bring
• Culinary school experience preferred
