Compensation:

New hires for this position typically start between $24.08 and $30.10 hourly, depending on factors such as work location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market conditions. While the full pay range is provided to support pay transparency, individual compensation will vary within the range based on these factors.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The HR Generalist provides broad support to the Human Resources department and serves as an early-career developmental opportunity. This position offers hands-on experience in core HR functions and will provide broader administrative support, while allowing for a primary focus in specific areas of Human Resources and related People functions. The HR Generalist may support a variety of key compliance and operational functions, contribute to process improvements, and deliver responsive service to employees and leaders. This is a professional growth role, design to expand HR knowledge, skills, and competencies through active engagement across multiple HR disciplines.

 

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functional focus areas and assignments may include:

A. Benefits, Leave Administration & Compliance

  • Serves as a point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and assist with benefits education and issue resolution.
  • Supports open enrollment activities including communication rollout, data auditing, and coordination with external vendors.
  • Assists with monthly billing reconciliation, reporting, and coordination of COBRA and leave administration.
  • Administers employee leave programs including FMLA, WA PFML, ADA accommodations, and other statutory and company-specific leaves.
  • Tracks and monitors leave eligibility, usage, certification status, return-to-work dates, and documentation in accordance with regulations and policy.
  • Prepares and distributes leave-related correspondence, notices, and determinations in accordance with company policy and applicable leave laws.
  • Supports the ADA reasonable accommodation process by facilitating the interactive process, coordinating with key stakeholders, preparing correspondence, assisting with implementation, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policy.
  • Serves as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave-related questions and processes.
  • Coordinates and supports employee benefits education, communication, and well-being initiatives, including awareness campaigns, vendor resources, and employee engagement activities.
  • Ensures timely and accurate communication and coordination with Payroll and Benefits.
  • Maintains accurate leave records in HRIS systems.
  • Prepares reports on leave usage, trends, and compliance metrics.
  • Administers the organization's Tuition Assistance Program, including employee communication, application processing, eligibility verification, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Supports HR compliance efforts through audits and documentation.
  • Maintains compliance with ACA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.

 

B. Talent Acquisition Support

  • Manages pre-employment processes including background checks, license/certification verifications, drug screens, and documentation compliance.
  • Coordinates and delivers the onboarding experience for new hires, ensuring timely communication, completion of forms, and Day 1 readiness.
  • Maintains pre-employment tracking systems and supports hiring events and candidate communications.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to ensure smooth handoffs from offer to onboarding.

C. Generalist Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies and processes.
  • Supports onboarding, off boarding, employee changes, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Assists with documentation and support for performance reviews, employee relations matters, and HR investigations.
  • Provides operational support to HR Business Partners on employee lifecycle processes including performance reviews, status changes, investigations, unemployment claims and policy application. 
  • Supports the performance management process.
  • Participates in HR audits, data tracking, and report preparation.
  • Contributes to HR communications, training, scheduling, and internal materials upkeep.
  • Assists with preparing HR data reports, dashboards, and compliance audits.

 

D. Data Integrity & Compliance

  • Maintains employee records and documentation in accordance with regulatory, audit, and internal requirements.
  • Prepares reports on relevant metrics (e.g., leave trends, onboarding progress, audit findings).
  • Supports process improvement efforts and system accuracy in the HRIS and related platforms.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement efforts related to HR policies, systems and processes.
  • Responds to general HR inquiries and provides guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Assists with compliance training administration and other HR projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and 2 years of relevant HR experience
  • OR High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of progressively responsible HR experience
  • OR HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) and 3 years of relevant HR experience
  • A HR related certification may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience.
  • Experience with HRIS Systems (ADP, Jobvite or other ATS solutions).
  • Experience with Third Party Administrators (Background Checks, Benefits Administration)
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

PREFERRED/DESIRABLE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources.
  • Prior experience in leave coordination, absence management, onboarding, and/or recruiting
  • Exposure to HRIS platforms and HR lifecycle processes
