Compensation:

New hires for this position typically start between $147 731.76 and $196 975.68 hourly/annually, depending on factors such as work location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market conditions. While the full pay range is provided to support pay transparency, individual compensation will vary within the range based on these factors.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Director of Finance and Accounting provides leadership and manages all aspects of accounting, financial planning and analysis, debt management, and treasury and property development. This position serves as a business partner to business unit management providing financial leadership, strategic insights and planning direction. Manages relationships with banks including preparing and delivering compliance certificates, regular reporting and analysis. Plans, organizes and directs the daily operations of the Accounting and Finance teams. Works within a holistic workflow to integrate operations and compliance activities within other departments. Implements and documents processes, procedures and internal controls sufficient to safeguard assets, supports sound business practices and financial stability, and ensure reporting integrity. Ensures that employees are cross-trained and that department capacity and demand for services are balanced.

 

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounting and Reporting

  • Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Develops and documents accounting policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Oversees all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems and ensures compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Owns the functionality and security of accounting and reporting systems in partnership with IT
  • Supports CFO in engaging the board's audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
  • Oversees all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenses are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.
  • Directs preparation of financial statements and business activity reports including those required by statute or contract.
  • Plans and directs implementation of internal controls to ensure all assets are safeguarded and properly accounted for.
  • Monitors systems and procedures to support effective program implementation contributing to unmodified Financial Audit, Single Audit and Retirement Plan audit opinions.
  • Oversees tax compliance and reporting on B & O, property, 990, 5500 and 1099 tax returns.

 

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Directly manages the annual budgeting process including capital planning, the forecasting process, and support strategic planning process.
  • Drives monthly financial review and analysis of operating results vs budget and forecasts, produce management reporting packet including commentary, operating metrics, and financial scorecard.
  • Performs monthly consolidations.
  • Administers, maintains and trains budget managers on Adaptive.
  • Prepares and delivers regular reporting and analysis to Finance & Audit Committee.
  • Prepares financial modeling for acquisition opportunities, new business development, cost saving projects, capital expenditure evaluation, competitive analyses, and business line, customer and product profitability.
  • Partners with business units to optimize operational performance and deliver on short and long-term financial objectives.
  • Drives continual process improvement to enhance existing financial models and develop FP&A processes that will drive growth and operational efficiencies.
  • Develops in-depth financial analysis for trends in revenue, cost, pricing and profitability across products, services, regions, and customers.
  • Coordinates closing, audit and other accounting activities.

 

Debt Management and Treasury

  • Manages relationships with banks including preparing and delivering compliance certificates, regular reporting and analysis.
  • Monitors and forecasts cash flow and debt compliance requirements to leadership.
  • Designs and implements bank accounts structure and payment methodologies.
  • Be the expert on tax exempt bond debt, advising property development on available options for funding. Manage funds flow and use, tracking and reporting on new money proceeds.
  • Documents processes, procedures and internal controls sufficient to safeguard assets, support sound business practice and financial stability, and ensure reporting integrity.

 

Leadership and Guidance

  • Creates and maintains a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Creates and maintains a respectful and collegiate atmosphere, model open and honest two-way communication with staff, peers and customers.
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of staff, recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissals.
  • Continuously builds individual and organizational capacity with team members, and peers, through identification of current and future skill needs.
  • Couples this awareness of individual and team skill needs with business needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Ensures timely and accurate evaluations of staff through a formal performance appraisal process

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Strategy.
  • Ten years of progressive professional experience in financial planning & decision support, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, strategic business planning, and general accounting. Work experience may substitute for degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing and enhancing financial planning processes in a growing organization.
  • Experience creating strategies, defining and articulating clear role expectations and direction.
  • Experience in new business development, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), post-acquisition integration.
  • Experience in presenting complex ideas and messaging to senior executives on a regular cadence.
  • Proven track record of delivering on commitments.
  • Experience managing cross functional projects and ability to plan and facilitate effective meetings; demonstrated leadership skills in team and/or group settings.
  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training a diverse team; foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
  • Team player with effective non-verbal, verbal and written communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with others across the organization
  • Strong multi-tasking, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills

 

PREFERRED/DESIRABLE

  • MBA or other graduate degree a plus.
