Payroll Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll / Time & Attendance Clerk is responsible for supporting accurate and timely payroll and timekeeping processes for hourly team members. This position works closely with supervisors, management, Human Resources, and Payroll to review employee time records, identify and correct discrepancies, maintain required documentation, and ensure accurate information is entered into the timekeeping/payroll system.

This position requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, organization, professionalism, and follow-through.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate and distribute employee time reports/time sheets for supervisor review and approval.
  • Review timekeeping records for missing punches, incorrect hours, schedule discrepancies, and other exceptions.
  • Enter approved timekeeping corrections into SAP and/or applicable timekeeping systems.
  • Enter hours for hourly team members when electronic time punches are unavailable or require manual entry.
  • Work with supervisors and management to resolve time and attendance discrepancies before payroll deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate time sheets and payroll records for Live Haul crews and other designated departments.
  • Enter company store, uniform, and other authorized payroll deductions as required.
  • Assist employees and supervisors with basic payroll and timekeeping questions.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for payroll adjustments, corrections, and approvals.
  • Monitor information for accuracy and notify appropriate management or HR personnel of unresolved discrepancies.
  • Provide backup support for payroll functions during vacations, absences, and other periods as needed.
  • Provide backup coverage for the Time & Attendance Coordinator as required.
  • Assist with weekly payroll processing and other payroll-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain employee and payroll information in strict confidence.
  • Follow established company policies and procedures related to payroll, timekeeping, attendance, and record retention.
  • Perform additional administrative and payroll duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive employee information.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to meet payroll deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with hourly team members, supervisors, managers, Human Resources, and Payroll.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other standard office applications.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Previous payroll, timekeeping, HR, administrative, or data-entry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant operations and/or Live Production preferred.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, research issues, and follow through until resolved.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential due to payroll processing deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous payroll, time and attendance, HR, accounting, or administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience working with SAP or an electronic timekeeping/payroll system preferred.

  • Base salary range of $39,393. -  $49,241.
