Our Gastroenterology Clinics offer a full range of consultative and procedural services for patients with gastrointestinal conditions as well as preventive colon cancer screening exams.
At the Queen’s Health System, we support preventive health while delivering comprehensive gastroenterology services for the diagnosis treatment and management of disease of the digestive system. Our goal is to ensure digestive health and overall well-being.
JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services for patients of The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) through direct patient care and teaching and supervision of residents from the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine and assigned students from other programs.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides gastroenterology (GI) services, including endoscopy services to Emergency Room (ER) patients and hospital inpatients at the request of ER physicians and QMC Medical Staff.
- Provides gastroenterology services to the Queen Emma Clinics through direct patient care and teaching and supervision of students and residents from the John A. Burns School of Medicine and assigned residents from other programs.
- Provides gastroenterology services in the QMC GI Office.
- Provides gastroenterology on-call coverage for the Medical Center according to current protocol
- In addition to the responsibilities of a general gastroenterologist, this physician will have a clinical focus on the evaluation and management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (i.e. ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease)
- Lead clinical initiative of establishing a comprehensive inflammatory bowel disease care model.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
- Board Certified or Board Qualified in Gastroenterology. If board qualified, must obtain board certification within two (2) years of entrance into position.
- Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
- Qualified for an appointment on the faculty of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
Base salary begins at $480,661/year with opportunity for productivity and quality incentives.
